Fred Phelps, the Christian Superhero with the superpower to condemn gay people (among other superpowers) is no longer with us. G-D finally summoned Fred Phelps at age 84 to heaven to advise H-M on how to deal with the new ACA threat.
Faith must be devastated. I know I am.

Ministry Of Phelps
I never respected Phelps and I am ashamed to say that he claimed Christianity. That being said, I have no idea where his soul ended up. Other Christians tried to help him modify or change his beliefs, yet him and his "cultlike" family refused to change or grow. I think it was all a business for them. Perhaps if I have nothing good to say, I should shut up.

Warning for Others
Taz writes:

This man's life was nothing but a warning for others about the pitfalls of unquestioned belief.
He went around filling his days with nothing but hate and condemnation all because he was too afraid to admit it's possible for him to be wrong.
It's too bad that most others already down this path do not see the warning signs either.
Phelps is "just another not following the narrow path" to them and not a lesson to learn from.
Everyone knows that humans make mistakes.
Everyone knows that these mistakes can be made at any time on any subject... for other people.
Yet some so strongly believe that certain things they hold dear are somehow immune to "mistakes" just because they personally hold them so dearly.
The path is not narrow, you're just wearing blinders.
I hope someone learns from this man's death. Stop wasting your life on hate and condemnation, it's blackening your soul.

Rumor has it that he was excommunicated f/ Westboro. Some kind of in-fighting between his daughter & the male board members.
I'm not sure how to feel about that.

I wouldn't necesaarily consider Fred Phelps a Christian by his actions and words. Just saying. Nearly all Baptists, Christianity, religion and society in general rejects him and his ilk.
And please don't bring up the "not a true Scottman" argument.
Mr. Phelps and his congregation reject the heart of the Gospel and Jesus & Pauls teachings. There very behavior is the antithesis of what Jesus preached.

Fred Phelps, the Christian Superhero with the superpower to...
Just because you have superpowers does not make you a superhero... the bad guys have them too.
Phelps was a Christian Supervillain.

Good. The fewer of those shits the better.
On a somewhat related note, I totally predicted Megan Phelp's departure from the cult. That documentary from years ago featured her a lot and she towed the party line, but I got the impression that her heart wasn't in it. Now she's out. Hopefully the everyone in the cult will die or leave. Whatever happens though, I can take pride that my country won't even let them cross the border.

I don't think real christians even exist. Every one of you says every other one isn't actually a christian. Just because you don't agree with him and he makes you look bad doesn't mean you can just say "oh, well he's not actually a christian so it's not my problem".
And please don't bring up the "not a true Scottman" argument.
Why, because you don't want to acknowledge that you are committing that fallacy? If you say "don't call what I am doing a fallacy" that automatically means you aren't? In that case, don't tell me I'm an asshole.

Organic life is nothing but a genetic mutation, an accident. Your lives are measured in years and decades. You wither and die. We are eternal, the pinnacle of evolution and existence. Before us, you are nothing. Your extinction is inevitable. We are the end of everything.

Every one of you says every other one isn't actually a christian.
I didn't. I called him a Christian.
don't tell me I'm an asshole.
It seems like you're more interested in trying to find disagreement than you are in trying to understand what the other person is saying.

Universal agreement between christians does not exist. There may be no true Scotsmen, but the highlands sure are full of men.

I don't think he coudl be considered a 'superhero' .. too many Christians find his actions distasteful.
Of course, with his actions, he did more to bring the issue of gay equality to the forefront than any 5 gay activists.

Re: Ministry Of Phelps
Phelps had no soul. Of course, neither does anybody else, but that is beside the point.

Moms was right.
They say you shouldn’t say nothin’ about the dead unless it’s good. He’s dead. Good!
