Whoever calls me ignorant shares my own opinion. Sorrowfully and tacitly I recognize my ignorance, when I consider how much I lack of what my mind in its craving for knowledge is sighing for... I console myself with the consideration that this belongs to our common nature. - Francesco Petrarca
"Nothing is easier than to persuade people who want to be persuaded and already believe." - another Petrarca gem.
Ignorance is a most formidable opponent rivaled only by arrogance; but when the two join forces, one is all but invincible.

Re: Oh My ...
It is both very real... and very loony.
Heh, when I saw it on youtube last, the top comment was: "Wow, you've got really nice tits."
I thought that was pretty funny - to totally disregard her nonsense and just check out her boobs

Re: Oh My ...
They're really not boobs. You get this rock, about this big, and give it to a paleontologist and they chip away at it and pretty soon they have something that looks like a boob.
The proof is that silicone is a rock and real boobs are not silicone and paleontologists don't get to chip away at real boobs anyway.

Anyone so limited that they can only spell a word one way is severely handicapped!

Re: Oh My ...
Fascinating mix of fact and fiction. She knew that fossils are mineralized bone, and she knew that paleontologists often have to extract fossils from a matrix, but after that she launched into stuff that she just made up. Sort of similar to apologetics.
Shouldn't she let Ken Ham know that the dinosaurs displayed in his museum:
Are just made up?

Re: Oh My ...
Well, I think the girl that did the video is pretty hot, so I did what any creepy old guy would do... I stalked her on the internet.
It seems the source is Christians against Dinosaurs where she seems to be the major contributor. There are several videos on their Youtube channel. She also has an Admirer page.
Its hard to believe this is serious. She does a couple of the videos while driving in her car. They are just weird.
I am also surprised at how many hits you get when you google "dinosaurs not real." - just about as surprised as when I found out people still believed in a geocentric universe
Shouldn't she let Ken Ham know that the dinosaurs displayed in his museum... are just made up?
I'm pretty sure Ham has Biblical proof that dinosaurs existed... and co-existed with humans.

I don't think this is a Poe, it has the flavor of the real thing.

"Big Paleo and the Museum Industrial Complex"?
Oh, come on. This has got to be a Poe!
If it isn't then we should all be afraid ... very afraid!
No. I'm sorry. I'm not buying into it. The site is new and all the blogs are dated the same. This charlatan has found herself a niche of fame and is milking it.
Let us pray:
Ohgod, please let this be a Poe. Please let this be fake. Please let this be a den of gullibility, a charlatan in her lair. For if it is real, if such is the depth of human intellect, then it is time for another flud! Ramen.

Florida is concerned ...
Using the restroom is not a crime ... (yet)
quote:
Need to use the restroom in Florida? Be sure to bring your birth certificate.
Florida state Rep. Frank Artiles just proposed a bill that would jail people for using the wrong restroom. This just isn't right.
This bill is designed to target transgender people but could also impact gender nonconforming people, people with disabilities, and parents.
What's next? and inspection of your privates?
What a maroon.

Benny Hill:

One episode of The Benny Hill Show had Hill going into the wrong restroom after hitting his head and reading the sign as "Laddies". Another sketch had a woman wearing slacks go into the "pants" restroom, and a Man in a Kilt go into the "skirt" restroom.

can we nominate a group?
House Passes Bill that Prohibits Expert Scientific Advice to the EPA
While everyone’s attention was focused on the Senate and the Keystone XL decision on Tuesday, some pretty shocking stuff was quietly going on in the House of Representatives. The GOP-dominated House passed a bill that effectively prevents scientists who are peer-reviewed experts in their field from providing advice directly or indirectly to the EPA, while at the same time allowing industry representatives with financial interests in fossil fuels to have their say. Perversely, all this is being done in the name of transparency.
Next the republicans will declare that π and e both ≡ 3.0 to make math easier to learn, and rule that history can only teach about rich white male history .........
Perhaps they should be sent a fracking koolaid cocktail because the industry says it is safe ...

House Passes Bill that Prohibits Expert Scientific Advice to the EPA
In other news, the President today announced additional immigration reforms revoking the citizenship of House Republicans and ordering their deportation from Washington.

Re: can we nominate a group?
Experts are obviously biased towards thinking that the things they've discovered are true.
This is, so far as I can see, the actual rationale for the law.

I think that is just the excuse. Experts are always biased toward reality so that's not really a good reason. The actual reason for the law is to keep those expert views on reality from fuckin up the gravy train. Republicans cannot sit idly by while these experts' realities poke holes in the trillion $$ flood flowing to the 1%. Those folks are the ones that bought the seats in which the republicans sit. Gotta protect that campaign war chest.
