What Is Fair For Todays Worker
RAZD writes:
The essential difference is disagreement in how the profits are shared:
Corporate philosophies and strategies are to maximize distribution of profits to the owners and shareholder,
Union philosophies and strategies are to obtain a just distribution of profits to the workers.
The worker deserves quality health care and a fair plan. Wages are an issue and I believe a fair scale for grocery workers in this day and age is between $10.00 and $17.00 an hour. (depending on position and seniority)
Paid vacations have always been agreed.
And to be fair, the workers need to be trained to bring value to the corporation as well.
This whole idea of hiring new cheap labor off the street and expecting anyone to work hard for below ten an hour is a fantasy. You pay for what you get.

Fortunate for the companies they don't need much; in most cases a warm body will do.

This is what appalls me! When humanity begins to focus more on numbers than they do on each other, we become expendable and of diminishing value as humans.
I advocate balance and consensus in such matters, yet I may remind the peanut gallery that a warm body in the boardroom is of no greater value in the grand scheme of things than a warm body swabbing urinals at the plant.

That isn't true, though. Some of the best workers I've known were getting minimum wage and some of the worst were unionized.
