Sure redefine the religion that built western civilization, whose members are DOING NOTHING BUT OBEYING THE SAME GOD WE'VE OBEYED FOR TWO THOUSAND YEARS, make up a new category of protected class that has been regarded for millennia as a sin, even by nonreligious people as aberrant, and all you've done is create a new criminal class out of good people. So be proud of your wonderful accomplishment while Christians sing hymns in jail. Blech.

... good people. And by the actions of these "good people" we see that they are not at all.

Go get your wedding cake somewhere else, nobody is stopping you, we'll find you a source, nobody is abusing you, sit down and have a coffee and doughnut, then go get your wedding cake somewhere else. I strongly suspect that in some areas there is not a "somewhere else" alternative. And if there is indeed a "somewhere else", probably substantial numbers of straight customers are probably also going to choose to go "somewhere else". I don't think it will be good for your business, to develop a reputation that you treat some people unfairly. i don't think it will be good for your business, to develop a reputation that you treat some people unfairly. The very idea that taking a stand against gay marriage on the basis of God's word is unfair is worse than unfair, it's diabolical. I'm far more interested in obeying God and honoring His law, far more interested inwhat's good for my soul and my eternal life than what's good for my business or even my general wellbeing in this life, and all true Christians feel this way. So I've made my case and that's that. If a majority think like EvC, way it goes. Edited by Faith, : No reason given.

More bullshit Faith. Your true Christians are just ignorant bigots trying to make their bigotry feel good. There is nothing in the Bible that says don't bake a cake for a same sex marriage.Anyone so limited that they can only spell a word one way is severely handicapped!

So I've made my case and that's that. This is why we have secular laws, to protect society from those that would do it harm because of their personal delusions. Feel free to put the salvation of your imaginary soul ahead of the good of humanity generally, but do us a favour, quit whining about the earthly consequenes. (Which appear to be that you may possibly get to have to bake a cake for people you don't like or suffer a small fine. Crucifixion it ain't.) Edited by Tangle, : No reason given.Je suis Charlie. ...members are DOING NOTHING BUT OBEYING THE SAME GOD WE'VE OBEYED FOR TWO THOUSAND YEARS... That's a long time to be so wrong about so many things. You really oughta fix that.
So be proud of your wonderful accomplishment while Christians sing hymns in jail. Proud that we are finally letting an oppressed people free to enjoy their humanity in all its aspects, yes. Not so proud that we have to fight entrenched bigots, my fellow Americans, to get this accomplished. Sing your hymns, Faith, but not so loud or you'll wake the lions too early. Is that true?? It seems to me that if that were true there would be a whole lot looking for the log in your own eye.

Obeying God is never a log in one's eye, much as some here try to make it so.

Faith writes: Obeying God is never a log in one's eye, much as some here try to make it so. Where did God say "Don't bake a cake for a same sex wedding?" AbE: I think a relevant passage that shows how the God character in the Bible would view the issue of baking a cake for a same sex marriage can be found in 2 Kings 5:
quote: Here, Naaman says that he will only worship the Israeli deity but since he lives and is the servant of a man who worships a different deity asks if it would be acceptable for Naaman to accompany his master, to aid his master and to even bow down in the temple of the other deity and the response is "Sure, go in peace". It seems that God thinks courtesy. faithfulness and good manners are more important than refusing service to others. Where did God say "Don't bake a cake for a same sex wedding?" It's kind of implied. If a couple are planning a same-sex wedding the good christians are supposed to stone them to death. That sort of precludes baking them a cake.

Would YOU have second thoughts if it DIDN'T happen? Would you have second thoughts if the numbers of Christians losing their businesses, being fined or going to jail for standing on their Biblical commitments against laws that target those commitments, was way beyond anything you expect? Because it didn't happen yesterday, or the day before that or the day before that.... How many times does it have to NOT happen before YOU have second thoughts?
