Would you say something similar to how Stephen Fry responded?
Personally, I don't think it would be quite so easy to meet GOD, Creator of all seen and unseen. Jesus would be a bit more plausible---approachable and spokes-person-like. I wouldn't be quite as arrogant as Stephen Fry was. Truthfully, I don't know what I would say or ask any differently than I do now through prayer. I'd have to think about this one. Saying, "I don't know," is the same as saying, "Maybe."~ZombieRingo It's easy to see the speck in somebody else's ideas - unless it's blocked by the beam in your own.~Ringo If a savage stops believing in his wooden god, it does not mean that there is no God only that God is not wooden.(Leo Tolstoy)

How the hell did you put up with someone like Paul or Calvin or Luther? The same way that I have put up with you.

Without evil, can you really have good? Wouldn't it all just be a bunch of meh? We may never know. I would imagine, however, that a day without evil couldn't help but be more than simply a meh type of day. Chance as a real force is a myth. Stile writes: A question for all of us. IF God exists and we were able to commune/communicate with Him, would we be more interested in knowing Him and His mind (and heart)or would we be merely content with answers to our problems...as if he were but a giant political boss who was responsible for the status quo. If God does exist and I'm ever able to meet Him, I would just like to know exactly where He stands ...Chance as a real force is a myth. It has no basis in reality and no place in scientific inquiry. What's the difference between you preventing evil and a God preventing evil? jar writes: Does this mean that you see no human advantage---in general---with God doing things for us? Apparently you strongly believe that by humans being responsible and learning to solve problems, progress is made but by allowing, hoping, praying and waiting for God to help us doesn't really help us. The former is a human effort and learning experience while I can see no human advantage to the latter, simply oppression. You say that I prefer a God who favors Phat. Not quite. I prefer a God who favors humanity. Perhaps I grew up with the idea that a parent who favors(dare I say spoils) their children is preferred over a cold one who boots the birds out of the nest and says sink or swim. Many human ideas about God are a reflection of what we believe and expected from our parents and families. Chance as a real force is a myth. Stile writes: Good point. I too would want to get to know Him and not impose demands of responsibility on His character until and unless I knew Him better. See...this is my whole point in our other thread. God does not have foreknowledge of our future actions. God only has knowledge of our present actions. God is eternally present. I don't see why it has to be an either/or thing. Why not both?Chance as a real force is a myth. It has no basis in reality and no place in scientific inquiry. Tangle writes: It seems to me that humans are solely responsible for this nature. I think my question will be 'Why did you make life on earth competitive?' If two hunters see the same food source, what is it that compels them to be wary of each other rather than cooperative? What is it that compels Americans to consume 70 times the resources that they need?(While other places virtually starve) Will Milton Friedman end up in hell over all of this?Chance as a real force is a myth. Cat Sci writes: It seems to me that by nature humans usually celebrate(worship) themselves. Which is a reason for him to not be worthy of worship. Would you vote for a politician who acted (or failed to act) like God? Introducing Mr. Donald Trump. Ask me whether or not he attempted to act godlike in 3 years.Chance as a real force is a myth. I never did. Personally, I liked Sanders. Evidently enough people did vote for trump. I wonder if they expect godlike behavior out of him?

ringo writes: Because that would be making humans equal to or greater than God. What you can't seem to grasp is that God by definition does get to define rationality, logic, reason, and reality itself. Now...to be fair, I won't make the same mistake that Dawn Bertot makes and speak on Gods behalf. What I will assert, however, is that humans don't have the ability to define God except as a lesser Being than themselves. My point (and counter assertion) is that God by definition is a greater Being than humans can (nevermind will) define. Why do believers insist on redefining rationality, love, etc. to include God? Why not just concede that gods are irrational and hateful and insist that they're still worth following? I will agree that many gods are made up and are in fact hateful, prideful, jealous, and petty. I will even cautiously agree that I can only "make up" what I believe God to be. My point is that GOD (The One who actually exists) is bigger than yours or my ability to define or to describe. You as an atheist are free, of course, to choose to deny that such a God exists. Chance as a real force is a myth. It has no basis in reality and no place in scientific inquiry. ringo writes: Well jar certainly seems to think so, so you may have a point. How do you know that the "real GOD" doesn't define Himself as less than His creation? I suppose if God was defined by a doting Jewish Mother He would be a teacher who allows his students to correct him so that they could learn to grow up, become ever increasingly responsible, and become good Doctors. God is not meant to be useful for humans. We are meant to be useful for God.
