Straightshot,
This is coming up in every thread you post to. It isn't rocket science. If you are replying to something said in a particular post use the reply button directly to the bottom right of the post you are replying to. If you are unable to grasp what is being asked of you please ask for help. Also, this forum is particularly well built with some great features. The quote boxes are a few features that make reading posts much easier. please use [qs ] [/qs ] and

(minus the spaces directly before the closing brackets) to start and end quotes. When you are writing a post, on the left side of the window are two links to help pages. Please use them. Another way of seeing how to do a particular task is to find a post where it has been done. You can "peek" at that post to see how it was achieved. If you have any questions please ask. AdminAsgara

And when I do this the thread sequence looks right from my computer So what else is needed? Different? Edited by Straightshot, : No reason given.

Asgara may yet answer you but I'll try to explain it. You are using the right Reply button for the wrong post or message. You often hit the Reply button for a post farther down than the one you mean to reply to. Yes, usually it's not hard to figure out who you are answering, but once you did criticize what I wrote thinking it was what someone else wrote and that never did get straightened out.
Also, the quote codes are a very good thing as Asgara was trying to explain. YOU choose exactly what you want to quote, it's not automatic so it won't quote more or less than you want. You use the codes yourself, type themj in yourself and put the quoted message between them. It really does help make posts more readable. Also, just for myself, though others have mentioned it too, I don't think quoting a lot of scripture helps you get your viewpoint across at all. We can all quote scripture but what counts in discussion is our interpretation of it.

She's a Bible thumping, Christian fundamentalist, I'm an entrenched atheist and humanist. If both ends of the religious spectrum are advising that your method isn't working, it would be wise to take on board our comments. That is, of course, only if you want anyone to actually read what you're writing. The thing is, people shouting from the pulpit only works beacuse those locked into their seats have to listen, whereas here we just look at a pile of biblical quotes and skip merrily onto the next post, thinking that you're just another crank. Hey Asshole,
Typing this with a cut and paste from the message you want to reply:
[qs]I don't really care what you think about the way I present information[/qs] displays in your message as this:
I don't really care what you think about the way I present information Typing this:
From a site or book in support of my argument.
displays in the message as this:
quote: This community, and the lurkers out there that frequent this site (which, btw, is a major part of the constituency to be reached) adopted certain presentation conventions that aid understanding, facilitating the communication process with fewer errors and misunderstandings. You know this, you have been told this, but instead of trying to communicate your points in a manner most conducive to reaching this community you insist on being an asshole. Your presentation outside the expected protocols is distracting and detracts from the message you are trying to relay and you look like an asshole. You want to be taken seriously? You want to have an influence? Stop being an asshole. Get with the presentation norms of this forum. If you really don't care about how you come across, if you really don't care about having your presentation be effective in communicating your points on this forum then just continue being an asshole. It's up to you, Asshole. Edited by AZPaul3, : Oh, lighten up, AZPaul!

Ok, it's your choice dipstick, I've no idea why loonies like you prefer to cry in the wildernes rather than communicate sensibly with others but they do. 'So shall ye know them.'
Your mythology commands you to do this: Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation.Mark 16:15-16 ESV / 427 Don't you think you should at least attempt to do it in a way that might get you listened too?Je suis Charlie.
