M'eh, sometimes shame works as a debate tactic.
However, the "humor" was really for me though. It helps fight depression I am getting from this topic. I suppose I could try liquor or drugs.

Good. Hooray. You're back on Team-Dronestar.

Agreed. To a degree. Every dollar in the world that goes to health care, education, real democratic reform, reduces terrorism. Every dollar that goes to anti-aircraft weaponry on everybody's roof . . .

I depressingly concede, after fifty+ years of manufacturing bullets and warships for ourselves and the world, maybe the only delicate security we may ever have in the future, is individualized weaponry.
Umm, kudos american/Brit foreign policy, kudos.

The goal is to prevent strikes on a densely populated central target. One assumes there will be fewer casualties in more thinly populated outlying areas by mounting defenses at the city's perimeter.
IF you can muster the political will to shoot hundreds of civilians out of the sky, you still have the problem of anticipating where the wreckage lands. I doubt that you can aim your collateral damage that accurately.

Responsible Gun Owner Of The Week (Runner Up)
I imagine we're going to talk quite a bit about the winner and his responsible attempt to bring conservative values back to America, but surely this guy deserves an honorable mention.
An enraged Waffle House customer shot and killed a waitress early Friday who asked him not to smoke.
Police said Johnny Mount was eating about 1 a.m. at the restaurant in Biloxi, Mississippi, when he lit a cigarette, reported WLOX-TV.
A waitress asked the 45-year-old Mount to put out the cigarette or smoke outside, and he began arguing with her.
Police said Mount then pulled out a 9 mm handgun he had concealed under his shirt and shot the 52-year-old waitress in the head.

Another Responsible Gun Owner
Here.
While inside the car, Aragon Salas removed the handgun’s magazine and pointed the gun down at Martinez’s legs, with a round still in the chamber, according to police.
Police say when Aragon Salas pulled the trigger, the gun fired and the bullet traveled through both of Martinez’s legs.
Shortly after the incident, Martinez arrived at Mercy Iowa City with gunshot wounds in both legs. When asked by police, Martinez said he was walking through a southside Iowa City apartment complex when he was randomly shot multiple times by black males he didn’t recognize, according to police.
Police say Martinez’s false report forced police to call in several off-duty officers in an effort to locate a shooter believed to be at large in the community.
So, that went well.

If there is any upside (for him anyway), at least he didn't blow off his own junk. Which has happened in the past with other 'responsible gun owners'.

The answer is so obvious... Clearly we have to uninvent the gun.

Yep, makes me feel so safe. I need more guns.....if I get a big enough pile I can hide behind them.

Extremist Data: Islamic v. Non-Islamic
From today's New York Times:
Also posted this over at Message 441.
Non-Islamic extremists are apparently in a real horse race with Islamic extremists.

Gun Danger in Other Countries:
From today's New York Times: Mortality Rates: In Other Countries, You’re as Likely to Be Killed by a Falling Object as by a Gun
Click on this article and watch the headline change every few seconds. A couple examples:
quote:
Gun homicides in England are about as common as deaths from agricultural machinery accidents in the United States.
quote:
Gun homicides in Germany are about as common as deaths from thrown or falling objects in the United States.
