This *would* make an interesting thread (maybe one exists already). Faith's argument that evolution survives because scientists don't dare upset the status quo *is* a very familiar one from creationists. Faith herself has often made this argument, and so she already knows the rebuttal, but I don't recall discussion ever having proceeded further. If Faith has a response to the rebuttal then we need a thread dedicated to the topic where she could elaborate.

The statement that evolution survives because scientists don't dare upset the status quo is not controversial, just wrong, but that you introduce this argument again and again as if for the first time is rather dubious. It's frequently drawn rebuttals whenever you've stated it, but I don't recall a response from you. If you do have one then you or someone should open a new thread to discuss it.

If we need to find another mechanism that would produce what we see in the fossil record then the place to discuss this would be the Evolution Requires Reduction in Genetic Diversity thread.If you have alternative interpretations of what we see in the fossil record, then this is the thread to present them.

I was moderator for this thread when it first opened, but later transitioned to a participant role. Now I'm transitioning back to my moderator role, beginning tomorrow.

I have a few rulings:

• The Globalists are off topic. Anyone who would like to discuss the Globalists or other conspiracy theories should open a thread in Coffee House.

• Discussion should be related to the topic, which is fossil support for the theory of evolution. For example, any discussion of giant humans must be accompanied by legitimate fossil evidence, and it should be made clear how they constitute evidence against evolution.

• Evidence must be legitimate. Photoshopped images are not acceptable. Fabricated fossils are not acceptable.

• Legitimate non-fossil evidence is acceptable if it can be connected to the topic.
  ​
• Claims and assertions should be supported with evidence. Unsupported assertions from any source are not acceptable.
