Re: We will miss you, George Carlin!!!
I always respected him.
Every time somebody dies whom we think is not supposed to die yet, it reminds us of our own mortality.

Re: Michael Jackson is dead
Michael had an intense life. Much of it was disturbing, and I don't think that he ever fully confronted his inner demons, but his genius and musical expression will be remembered and immortalized forever.
asgara writes:
Yeah, its my generation's icons that are starting to go down now.
We all die, my Queen. We can only hope that we get a chance to fulfill our destiny and leave the world a little bit better than it was when we entered it. As I get older, I become more aware of my responsibility to positively impact those whom I come in contact with.

Clarence Clemons and the Joy of Sax
I never liked the E Street Band as much after the music became popular, but I always respected the saxophonic sound that defined the music.
Springsteen sidekick, sax man Clarence Clemons dies

Earl Scruggs...Bluegrass Legend Passes
Bluegrass great Earl Scruggs dead at 88
By the CNN Wire Staff
quote:
(CNN) -- Earl Scruggs, who as a child developed the distinctive picking style that forever changed banjo playing, and whose association with Lester Flatt cemented bluegrass music's place in popular culture, died Wednesday of natural causes at a Nashville hospital, his son Gary Scruggs said. He was 88.
I always liked Earls style. He was head and shoulders above other banjo players, and he always seemed to enjoy playing.

Gore Vidal
Gore Vidal, American Author, Playwright, Dies At 86
quote:
Vidal was a learned, but primarily self-educated man. Classrooms bored him. He graduated from the elite Phillips Exeter Academy, but then enlisted in the Army and never went to college. His first book, the war novel Williwaw, was written while he was in the service and published when he was just 20.
I always liked his articles on the economy.

Re: Jumbo
You forgot to mention that Jumbo was so big he actually derailed that train.

The Eagles Co-Founder Glen Frey
(CNN)Glenn Frey, a founding member of the rock band the Eagles, has died at 67, a publicist for the band has confirmed.
"Glenn fought a courageous battle for the past several weeks but, sadly, succumbed to complications from rheumatoid arthritis, acute ulcerative colitis and pneumonia," reads a post on the band's official website.
I always enjoyed their music.

Re: Merle Haggard
I always liked that song Are The Good Times Really Over For Good?|
It speaks to me of the lost America that I grew up idolizing. I realize now that seeing life through rose colored glasses isnt really what Jesus wants for me...but this song captures some of my nostalgia for what I felt I deserved from God.

They always called his diehard fans Arnies Army.
now they have a charitable organization! Arnie's Army
Good stories in that link!
To me, Arnie represented the glory days of America...a time now lost.

Re: Ron Glass
I had to look up Ron Glass. I figured if he was important enough for you to mention he was important enough for me to learn about.
How 'Firefly' Star Ron Glass Quietly Helped Hundreds of Kids Reach College
quote:
Ron Glass leaves behind a lot more than a body of work that earned him an Emmy nomination (Barney Miller) and sci-fi acclaim (Firefly).
The actor, who died Saturday at 71 of respiratory failure after facing health issues for several years, devoted much of his personal time to The Wooten Center, a Los Angeles nonprofit that provides mentoring and college preparation to students in grades 3-12.

Re: John Glenn
They say he was the last true American hero.
The average person [was] better educated ... back years ago than most people in the world. And then we put more into basic research and learned the new things first," he said. "That little combination is just as true today. If we lose that edge in research and education, we won't be a leading nation in the world. It's that simple.~~John Glenn
