Re: No more M/F bathrooms
Why should women have to put up with the bad habits of strange men when it's enough of a pain to deal with it at home? It's all a big pain.
Having to deal with the toilet seat being down versus forcing transgender folk into the wrong bathroom?
If they "work fine" it's only for the young who have been brainwashed by the Left into accepting the Progressive rationale and not noticing the problems.
Yikes.

The discussion about the seat situation is in the context of the CO-ED DORM BATHROOMS which was inaugurated by Stile many many posts ago. It was just a minor point I made in passing, which of course had to be made into a major issue by you.
The subject transitioned from the LGBT issues to the general issue of unisex public bathrooms. How on earth it got extended to such a length is ... well, unfortunately typical of EvC side issues.
I'VE SAID A MILLION TIMES ON THIS THREAD THAT I DON'T SEE A PROBLEM WITH TRANSGENDER MEN IN THE WOMEN"S ROOM. Maybe I should, many others do, maybe I'll see it differently later, but at the moment I don't. THE SEAT ISSUE HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS.

The solution we use at our house is to have men put the seat back down and not to kick men out of the bathroom.
In my 58 years of experience, the only males who leave the toilet seat up have never been in a long term relationship with a woman.
However in West Texas, it would be a major accomplishment just to get them to even flush a toilet.
No wonder there are so many middle-aged virgins around here.

You are the one who brought this stuff up. I never thought it made a single bit of difference.

As so often happens I have NO idea what you are talking about. Never thought WHAT made any difference?
Never mind, I'm sure I'll regret finding out.

Sigh. Men leaving the toilet seat up is not an important issue in the subject of public toilets regardless of whether we are talking about reasons not to have unisex toilets or reasons not to allow transgender persons in the ladies room. You are the one who brought the issue up, not me.

Re: public awareness project
At least I found out one thing from your videos: it IS men posing as transgender to get at little girls that they are worried about.
In time you will learn that they are not worried about that at all and that this is just a ruse.
The are actually worried society might be nice to transgender folks who they think are disgusting and they want society to be nasty to them.
You see the video with the guy in a beard following a little girl? That's what their laws allow rather than prevent. Any guy with a beard can claim to be FTM (female-to-male) trans and that therefore they are legally obligated to use the little girls room.
If they are truly afraid of this they would enact laws
a) mandatory bathroom attendant
b) no unsupervised children in bathrooms
c) child only bathrooms.
Instead, they are now allowing men to walk into women's toilets without even needing to disguise themselves as women. This is obvious. They know this. They don't care. They just want to current humiliate trans people and intimidate trans people who have not gone public - but they can't say that so they make up a bullshit excuse, even one that is transparently bullshit because they hope enough people will buy it.
They've miscalculated.

there should be laws against cross-dressing in public... Nobody would be freaked out, worried about molesters posing as women...Problem solved.
Nope.
People who will freak out at such laws
a) transgender people
b) anybody who knows transgender people
c) people with empathy for transgender people
New problems arise, such as the mental health consequences to transgender people for being forced to hide their medical condition (it is a medical condition with medical treatments) in secrecy and shame.
Problem solved? How many child molestors can you think who would be deterred from committing a sexual assault because of dress code violations? How many child molestors bother to dress as women in the commission of their crimes at the moment?
New problems? Housing problems. Marital problems. Child-rearing problems. Employment problems.
The USA tried your solution. It really doesn't work, proven through experience.

I'm not talking particularly about "bad" people, mostly about privacy and the different needs of the two sexes, and let me add the different sexual interests and curiosity of the sexes fer cryin out loud.
If we're not talking about "bad" people... than what's the problem?
If nothing bad is taking place, then the "privacy" issue is a strange one for certain people... those people should not use public bathrooms. They can deal with their "privacy" issues on their own.
Of course there's different sexual interests and curiosities.
And that's just fine. Anyone's "privacy issues" that extends into some personal idea that someone else *might* be sexually interested in them so they want to have those people forced away... that's their own personal issue to deal with. Not something to force on the rest of the public to mitigate.
As long as nothing bad is happening, of course.
And when you talk about both sexes in families sharing the bathroom I don't think you mean at the same time do you?
No, not at the same time.
Just like in any co-ed bathrooms, no one uses the same stall or same shower at the same time.
You don't need two completely separate rooms in order to accomplish this, you only need normal people who aren't "bad."
It's exactly the same as home bathrooms.
And again, the good news is that if any bad people come along... there's already laws in place to have them arrested.

Re: No more M/F bathrooms my summary
I believe privacy that separates the sexes is standard and rational and you don't. I made the best case I could so I think this subtopic discussion is over.

What about the solution anglagard suggested, of totally private single-person facilities? Which I proposed wouldn't need to completely replace existing facilities but be added to them. Keeping all freaked-out parties from freaking out?
I realize this couldn't happen immediately, but even if laws get passed favoring transgenders I don't see how the freaked-out opponents are going to be silenced by that, because the sight of a clearly male man in women's clothes is just going to ...freak them out. My thinking there shouldn't be a problem isn't going to stop them from freaking out and your opinion isn't going to stop them either.
By the way, if it's a medical problem, how about curing it instead of indulging it?

Medical condition and problem are not the same. Why would a homosexual want a cure. Why would a transgender what to be cured?
