There is no such thing as dangerous weapons, only dangerous people. Florida father accidentally shoots and kills his 14-year-old son at ‘world’s safest’ gun range. But I guess if he hadn't had a gun he'd have accidentally beaten his son to death with his bare hands.

Florida gun range shooting: 'The gun didn't kill my boy. I did,' father says | CNN
Clayton Brumby on shooting is son at the world's safest gun range:
quote: The incident has not changed his views of guns, he said. He still intends to keep them in the home and use them for self-defense of his home and family. Under a government which imprisons any unjustly, the true place for a just man is also in prison. Thoreau: Civil Disobedience (1846) History will have to record that the greatest tragedy of this period of social transition was not the strident clamor of the bad people, but the appalling silence of the good people. Martin Luther King If there are no stupid questions, then what kind of questions do stupid people ask? Do they get smart just in time to ask questions? Scott Adams

I wonder if there's a limit. Is there a number of beloved family members a gun lover is prepared to see die, before they might be prepared to agree that gun ownership is inherently more dangerous than not owning a gun.
Maybe it's the majority of family members in the household - because then, by definition, your guns will have caused more deaths, than lives they could save in the house by successfully defending against home invaders.Could there be any greater conceit, than for someone to believe that the universe has to be simple enough for them to be able to understand it ?

There've been so many thousands and thousands of Isolated Incidents this year that one more Isolated Incident hardly seems worth mentioning. And yet sometimes a Responsible Gun Owner goes above and beyond in his quest for responsibility, and we should salute him for it.
M. D. Harmon, a conservative columnist who frequently wrote in favor of gun ownership rights for the Portland Press Herald, died this week after being accidentally shot by a teenage boy.
As the Press Herald itself reports, the 71-year-old Harmon was showing off one of his guns to a 16-year-old boy in his home in Sanford, Maine, on Wednesday. Harmon apparently let the teenager handle the weapon, which went off while the boy was holding it. [...] Harmon was a dedicated defender of gun ownership rights and would regularly rail against attempts to regulate firearms or even make the use of firearms safer. In a 2013 column, for instance, Harmon attacked proposed legislation in Maine that would have required gun owners to take a firearm safety course in fact, he referred to this section of the legislation as the worst part of the bill. |

5-year-old girl killed by celebratory gunfire just minutes into New Year’s Day.
Still, at least she didn't take his freedom. So the glass is half full.

5-year-old girl killed A mere misdemeanor, apparently. If he had killed her with a car that would have been a felony.
Still, at least she didn't take his freedom. At worst the State will give him a year in prison, but they might let him off with a fine. And Justice For All.

Hooray! guns will protect us from the ever-present menace posed by ... er ... people with guns.
Unless we happen to be five-year-old girls, of course.

Man with concealed-carry permit fatally shoots would-be robber So what about the other 761 people who were shot dead in Chicago this past year? Or the 2788 who were shot but didn't die? How many of those were self defense? Just for a little context there have been 3,412 Americans killed by terrorists from 2001-2014 inclusive and over 440,000 killed by non terrorist gun fire. You guys lose more people every 3 months to gun fire than you lost soldiers in the 7 years of the Iraq war. Is there any ratio so disproportionate as to make you rethink your position on unrestricted gun ownership?

So what about the other 761 people who were shot dead in Chicago this past year? Thank God you guys are as socialists as you are. I wonder how much money the survivor would have to pay for the medical costs, the police investigation, the street cleanup, the paramedics, the coroners, the time lost from his own work etc vs how much money he'd have lost through the robbery. Fortunately, it was merely the tax payers that got robbed instead! abe: The Chicago Tribune has an answer!

It is becoming ever more apparent to me that most of the world's problems are caused by poor accounting practices.

Totally worth it. Well, he got to keep his iPhone too! On a serious note, protecting your belongings by ending a life at the cost of a few cents worth of bullets and a flesh would is totally acceptable bargain for some folks. By the way, whatever happen to that case in Texas last year where the good Samaritan stopped a car jacking by shooting the car owner in the head and then "beat feet" before the police showed up?
