So, my wife wants to take a leisurely drive from Las Vegas, NV, to San Antonio, TX, and back again. Evidently from the map we have a choice of three different main routes, so we can do one on the way there and another on the way back. We can of course diverge from these main roads to see anything particularly interesting.
So, peoples, any suggestions as to what we should see on the way, and on which two of the three routes we should take? N.B: My wife is particularly susceptible to heatstroke and suchlike, so, alas, we cannot go hiking around the desert in midsummer. (I am fond of her and would like to keep her.)
Thank you.

C'mon, people, a little help. This isn't easy. I just looked up things to do in Fort Stockton. #1 is have your photograph taken with the sign saying Welcome To Fort Stockton.
I mean, I'll do it, but it'll never compete with the giant lemon in Lemon Grove, California.
God, Texas is boring.

If you can, go to Palo Duro Canyon outside Amarillo and also check out the Cadillac Ranch.
If you get near Odessa visit the metor crater.
In Austin head over to the Congress Avenue bridge around sunset and watch the bats take flight.
Near El Paso catch the Hueco Tanks State Park and also The Hill, James Magees art project in the desert.
If you like art, stop in Marfa for sure. Good eats several places there.
Try a green chilli cheeseburger at the Alamo Springs Cafe in Fredricksburg.
In Lubbock eat at Orlando's.
In San Antonio lunch at Momak’s Backyard Malts & Burgers.
And a must, while in San Antonio head over to the Spoetzl Brewery in Shiner.
And a day at Brakenridge Park and the Whitte museum and the Japanese Tea Gardens in San Antonio.
And Braken Cave just outside San Antonio is home to even more bats.
Finally catch a sunset from the Hays Street Bridge and then head down to the Alamo Beer Company just underneath.

Anyone so limited that they can only spell a word one way is severely handicapped!

Thanks. I'm coming to the conclusion that West Texas is just awful. There's just this vast tract of nothing in particular between El Paso and San Antonio which is boring to cross and must be absolute hell to live in.
The corresponding list of things to do in Saragosa has nothing on it whatsoever. Perhaps they should get a sign.

Due to a personally emergency, I am stuck about 40 miles from San Antonio. So far, I have seen bumper stickers that say "We will seceede', and another one that had a phrase with lots of repeating 'KKK" in it.

Doc, go further north. To the Four Corners area. Visit Durango and Farmington and Cortez. There you meet some of the best people in the world!
I 've never been to the south of Arizona or New Mexico, but from what I was told, those people are pretty wonderful, too.
