I'm enjoying a course on ancient history on my local Christian radio station so thought I'd post information about it. It may be too "Christian" for some but it's predominantly on the historical facts, with some Christian worldview framing.
It started some weeks ago with the Creation, Flood etc., and traces the spread of cultures from the "Table of Nations" in Genesis 10 and 11. It's packed with historical information I expect would be new to most people.
Today was on the civilization of the Indus Valley, mostly focusing on Hinduism and related religions. I missed yesterday's but day before was about how the ancient civilizations were connected by famous roads and how they contributed to the spread of culture: "The Silk Road" was fascinating. Monday's will be about Alexander the Great.
The course is given by pastor and prolific author, George Grant, purchasable on his website here or you could hear it on the radio as I am doing, here -- it's aired three times a day. See left hand column. Times are Pacific Daylight.

Re: George Grant
I missed the early part of Grant's course, but at least on the timing, judging from how he's using the scripture on the Table of Nations and Noah's sons as the progenitors of all the historical civilizations he's teaching about, my guess is he's pretty standard conservative on the Flood. I'm pretty sure R. C. Sproul is too. I wish I could afford to buy his course; the guy has read a ton of ancient history. Actually I wish it was in book form.

Today's program on Alexander the Great
I listened, found it as usual very interesting. There was one mention of the Bible, the fact that two books of the Old Testament reference the king of Persia during the greatness of the Persian empire, otherwise it was all standard history but at a level of detail it takes a well-read historian an hour to present. All about Alexander's life, character and conquests. At the very end Grant gives us a Christian exhortation on the dangers of great pride in achievement. Otherwise it's all historical facts found in such sources as Plutarch's "Lives." This program will be repeated twice again today and tomorrow will be about the period following Alexander's conquests.
