I hear this word "insulting" quite often from unbelievers. Is the entire idea of Jesus insulting to you? Theodoric trots out the word quite often..as if how dare I say such things!
The reason I bring it up is because I hear the word more from non believers than I do from religious folks.
I think I would say it is embarrassing more than insulting. It seems today that an American Christian can't open their mouth without presenting a face palm assertion.
It is one long stream of inane comment followed by inane comment.

What on earth would have the power to seduce God?
According to the Bible a need to show who has the bigger dick (Exodus), a need to show who is stronger (Genesis 32), getting Her panties in a wad (Biblical Floods), people turning to look back at their burning home (Lot's wife), people showing mercy after being told to kill everyone and all the cattle (1 Saul) ...

Re: If It Walks Like A Deity...
Phat writes:
As you have pointed out before, the Bible can be used to say anything we want it to say.
Why would God need to prove himself to mere humans?
I tend to agree but obviously them what wrote the book did not agree. They have God demanding that you not put any other gods before her and claiming she was a jealous god.
Phat writes:
Remember we are talking of a Creator of all seen and unseen...a Being who is all powerful and all knowing. Not some bumbling character in a book that is learning how to be a god.
So you no longer talking about the God of the Bible?
Phat writes:
Or is that how you as a teacher choose to present the Deity?
Phat, I didn't write any of the Bible stories. I hope I could have done much better.
As a teacher I tried to help my students learn how to think critically and recognize myth, fantasy, folktales and fables; to learn how to ready the Bible, to understand that the Gods in the Bible were NOT GOD but rather the constructs of other humans.
