Long long ago and in a land far far away when Newt Gingrich was still just the Conservative Talking Head and the Democrats were proposing Universal Health Care the newt was sagacious enough to understand that IF the Democrats succeeded in creating a Universal Health care system in the US they would hold power for generations.
The man is not dumb; vile yes, but certainly not dumb.
Now the Republican Party actually has all that is needed to create a Universal Health Care system in the US; they have the Presidency, the Senate, the Congress and most importantly the Court.
So the question is; "Is Newt still savvy enough to see the long term benefit or so old he needs short term gains?"

Re: Eye Of Newt
The US has one of the highest per person health care costs in the developed world and one of the lowest health care ratings in the developed world. No one in civilized countries ever goes bankrupt paying medical bills.

Yet that was the very argument Newt used to build opposition within the Republican Party to the Health Care proposal from Hillary Clinton when she was the new First Lady.
The issue is not what has happened but rather what the power people in the current administration think might happen.

Rather than having the Feds run it, cut the peoples' taxes and give them the money and let them come up with their own solutions.
Cut what taxes?

Re: Try reading what Trump said it has been on his website since March
Sorry but that is still not an answer.
Is the plan to allow deducting insurance premiums from income tax? If so that is an annual event. You do not get the money before the fact, the government gets to hold your money for a year. Second, to contribute to any HSA you must first have disposable income that can be allocated to that instead of rent or food or clothes for the kids or all of the other expenses real people face.
What if the insurance premiums are due monthly while any tax refund comes in annually?
What if there is no disposable income to set aside for an HSA?
How should the government make up for lost revenues created by additional deductions?

Re: Try reading what Trump said it has been on his website since March
How on earth is that possible? No provider should be allowed to refuse valid insurance. We have a legal concept of legal tender to prevent this kind of extortion,
It is quite common in the US. To find a health care provider in the US the first task is to find one that will accept your payment methods. When you do the payer becomes the client, not the patient. Even Medicare is not universally accepted in the US.

Or if you have to, get on Medicaid.
What if you cannot qualify for Medicaid or most other benefits?

The real obscenity.
The real obscenity and the one not being addressed or even questioned is the idea that health care, education, public utilities, roads and protection should ever be profit centers or for profit enterprises.

Re: Republican Repeal and Replace bill pulled.
What is really sad is if they would simply adopt a universal health care system like every other first world nation they would assure themselves long term success.
They are really stupid!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
