Re: How does the Holy Spirit inspire anyone?
Phat writes:
My belief, of course is that God created all things. In Him is life and that life is the light of men.
Hence, all logic, reason and reality are filtered through Him.
Phat writes:
The evidence does not validate my claims.
That's the problem. You might as well say that pink unicorns are prancing through my living room and that all logic, reason and reality are filtered through them.
It isn't. Logic, reason and reality are still logic, reason and reality no matter what you believe. You are not talking about logic, reason and reality at all. You're talking about a silly caricature of logic, reason and reality. You're trying too hard to believe in what you know is not true.

Think of the implications if you became an instant superhero. What would be your responsibility to society?
We can tell the heroes from the villains by how they treat society.
Look! Up in the sky! It's a bird! It's a plane! No! It's Indifferent-Man!

Why would an omnipotent God have priorities?

Because being omnipotent does not necessarily mean you can be in two places at once?

Perhaps your idea of what God is like does not reflect what God is actually like?
My idea of God is that there is none. I'm just going by the idea of an "omnipotent" God that believers push.
NoNukes writes:
Because he has assigned somethings for you to do?
You're setting the bar for "omnipotence" pretty low. If I delegate everything, I can be "omnipotent" too.

Again, if you set the bar really, really low, you can count on Him to never let you down. The homeless guy on the corner never lets me down because I don't expect anything of him.
Suppose I ask the homeless guy for a ride to work. He doesn't have a car or a driver's license but he hails a cab for me; it only costs me $20.
How is that different from Noah having to build his own ark?
Edited by ringo, : me --> you

Whats your point? Say you could talk to God. What would your needs be?
You claimed that, "He is the only one I can count on who will never let me down." Message 187
That's blatantly false. You can't count on Him to build an ark for you. You can't count on Him to feed the hungry for you.
If I could talk to God, why would I bother? I can only count on myself and my fellow man to fulfil my needs.

In particular, there cannot simultaneously be free will and free action and yet have a universe where no one can elect to do evil.
Free will is just as silly a concept as omnipotence.
NoNukes writes:
It is literally impossible to create a star that can last forever;
It is only impossible given the physical laws that we have - which were supposedly created by God. If you're constraining God to real physical laws outside His control, you're giving Him a huge copout not to do anything.

Not at all. But if there was a God who could prevent evil and didn't, he would be the enemy.

No. YOUR God is one whom YOU define and create and I reject.

EXACTLY! Noah had to save himself FROM GOD.

Or perhaps He is waiting on you to do it.
