And a Happy New Year! This is the year we start making America great again...so lets start in our hearts.

2017 New Years Resolutions
Every year people discuss what personal changes they wish to make---symbolically starting on January 1st.
I for one started my major change 167 days ago when I embraced sobriety over my primary addiction. 2017 offers new challenges--many of them currently unknown.
Does anyone have anything to add to this list of resolutions?
Happy New Year,everyone!

Kudos to you Phat. Keep it up. And while this forum generally gravitates to argumentative dialog, know that we all certainly always wish the best for everyone when it comes to their personal lives.

I have made it a mission to get back to my ideal weight. This past year was somewhat stressful and busy, and I haven't had as much time to be as diligent as I used to be when it comes to diet and exercise. I am making it a mission to return to my ideal weight by summer. I will need to lose about 25 lbs. Not an insurmountable goal, but definitely harder at my current age of 44.

The End of 2016 Has Been Delayed!
There are those who very much look forward to seeing the end of 2016. Well, they'll have to wait a bit longer. One second longer to be exact. Because after 23:59:59, instead of immediately going to 0:00:00 of the next day, we'll have 23:59:60 as a leap second is added to correct Coordinated Universal Time (UTC).
For those who might be interested, the matter of leap seconds formed the basis of the infamous creationist PRATT that the earth's rotation is slowing down at a fast rate. Yes, the earth's rotation is slowing down, but the creationist rate is 33,000 to 50,000 times too great. It turns out that the claim's originator, most likely Walter Brown, didn't understand what leap seconds are. {shameless_plug}I examine that claim and explain what leap seconds are and why we need them on my page, DWISE1'S CREATION / EVOLUTION PAGE: Earth's Rotation is Slowing.{/shameless_plug}
Though actually, it's already happened. Although it is 21:37 PST here on the West Coast, it is 05:37 UTC. So the leap second event already happened over 5 and a half hours ago. Sorry for not being more timely.

I was going to ask which time zone got the honors but then I kept reading. I guess my "atomic watch" will adjust without me noticing.
Happy New Year, EvC! (well, it could happen in a parallel universe, (I'm drinking my annual single malt toast to my dad)).

I'm one who would like to see the end of 2016 though not terribly glad to see the start of 2017 either. But Happy New Year to all anyway.
And a special Happy New Year to Moddie who took offense at what I recently said on the Persecution thread, which of course as is often the case was not intented to be offensive at all, merely a musing on a possible explanation, that I also apply to myself. But at EvC so much of what I say is taken as offensive I can only shrug it off. Most of it is just propaganda points. I'm not hard to find if anyone wants to off me, as so many of the Leftist persuasion want to off Trump and his supporters for just such trumped-up offenses.
So Happy New Year Moddie. You started your New Year hours ago and maybe you're sleeping it off in English morning.
