We're seeing a familiar pattern now:
The most obvious example is Trump's threat to jail his political opponent, Hillary Clinton. Today Trump will be briefed on Russian influences on the 2016 presidential race, and today it was also revealed that Trump plans to revamp the intelligence agencies:

Sounds to me like a negative version of an attitude that could be presented more positively -- that is, it sounds like he's determined to put his own vision of things into effect, which is what got him elected, instead of caving in to opinions that oppose his, which would alienate his supporters. Certainly there is a point where a determined vision could devolve into irrational willfulness, but I haven't seen a reason to conclude that from what you've said.
Not being up on his tweeted messages, I have to wonder exactly what "gets angry" looks like in reality, and "threatens."

I thought the Trump Wall with Mexico was just campaign rhetoric, but I guess not: House GOP, Trump team hatch border wall plan
The US will pay to build the wall and then bill Mexico later. --Percy

When I see a wall and a check from Mexico ... then I will believe it was other than rhetoric.

As expected, the wall serves the purpose of cutting US Property owners off from part of their property but serves no purpose in stopping illegal immigration. I realize this may be new information for over half of the people elected to Congress but the US has rivers. And rivers often reach into the interior of the US. And even when the river is on a border there are often boat ramps that also have direct access to the interior of the US over things called roads. And sometimes there are things called piers that people can even walk on that in turn connect to things called roads that go into the interior of the US. And the US has more than one border.
Like I said, I imagine this is all news to over half of those elected to Congress and somewhat less than half of the people who voted for our President elect so it will take time for reality to seep in. Aeons based on the evidence so far.

I like the fact that he seems to have encouraged some sanity on certain foreign policy issues when you consider the typical United States hysterics and warmongering.
There was a Senate hearing yesterday which had James Clapper presenting anti-Russian hysterics to the disgraceful people we call United States Senators. The committee made me want to vomit as I listened to Senator after Senator (though I missed much of it, so perhaps there was some sanity prior to the North Carolina junior Senator speaking) promote all sorts of accusations about Russia supposedly interfering in out election. I expected the vast majority of committee members wished to go to war, and was frankly scared. But in darkness, small rays of light have the ability to shine brighter than typically is the case. Senator Tom Tillis of North Carolina spoke, and before he got to his technical questions (I can't even remember the questions lol), he made a very quick statement relative to the hysterics that preceded his time allotment to speak. He pointed out that we have interfered in 81 elections abroad since World War 2 ended, and that DOESNT EVEN COUNT the leaders we overthrew or helped to overthrow. (He meant that the 81 interferences did not include, for example, the coups against Iran in 1953 or Brazil in 1964 that overthrew their democracies). Russia hacked computers to release emails. I forgot to mention that the hearing was presented as a response to (something like)Trump's "mean attacks on the poor little CIA" and his "cruelty" which he constantly shows when he tells us he wants peace with Russia. A very mean man Trump is when he doesn't want to go to war with Russia. Russia is so mean and to oppose war with Russia means you are a meanie for liking mean things. A real life meanie beany our President is. (actually he does seem a little mean on OTHER issues but lets give some credit, for the sake of plain SANITY, where and when it is due) A plea for sanity this post is.

Just to repeat what you're saying more directly, the Texas border with Mexico is the Rio Grande River. Google says its 1254 miles long. We can't build the wall on the Mexican side, so we have to build it on our own side. We're proposing building a wall between ourselves and the river. Wherever along the Texas border you currently see the Rio Grande River, in the future you'll see a wall. If you use the river for transportation or recreation, you'll first have to find a way through the wall to get to the river.
This is absurd, asinine, especially since all it will do is change the methods and routes used for illegal immigration. More importantly, it's entirely wrongheaded because immigration contributes to the country's growth and strength. --Percy

The man isn't in office yet, we've seen no specific plans for how this wall is to be constructed, which areas it will occupy etc., and yet you are denouncing some imaginary plans in your own head as if they are his?
And of course pretending that the wall would be eeping out "immigrants" instead of ililegals. Truly this is upside-down thinking. Edited by Faith, : No reason given.

It is even more absurd in reality. The wall or fence needs to be built where the base is stable enough to support such a structure. Often that means it is some considerable distance from the river itself meaning it runs right through someone's property and cuts off direct access to that part of the property that's on the far side of the wall.
There are also recreational lakes and those lakes have boat ramps and those boat ramps connect to roads and there are boat ramps and docks on private property that also connect to roads and even ferry crossings like this one.
And don't forget we have other borders that are not fenced as well as a bunch of big ass rivers that open onto the Gulf of Mexico.

The Jar-Percy Imaginary Wall Design is mildly entertaining at best. Perhaps you could get yourself appointed to Trump's Wall Advisory team.

Faith writes: The man isn't in office yet, we've seen no specific plans for how this wall is to be constructed,... Specifics are not Trump's forte - name something he's been specific about. Certainly not his taxes or healthcare reform. But no one's talking about "how this wall is to be constructed." We're talking about *where* it has to be constructed. If you can think of another possible place for the Rio Grande portion of the wall that isn't between the river and the rest of the country, you let us know.
And of course pretending that the wall would be keeping out "immigrants" instead of illegals. I did nothing of the sort, the context was obviously illegal immigration, but we *are* in need of immigration reform. It should be far easier to immigrate into this country than it is. Immigrants built this country, continue to build it, and we need a continuing stream of immigrants on into the future. --Percy

Trust me. The wall concept is far from amusing, rather it is simply utterly stupid.

You did indeed imply that the illegals are immigrants that the country needs. Perhaps it isn;t what you meant but that is what you said.
I'd leave it to Trump's advisors to plan the Rio Grande portion of the wall, or whatever other form of dealing with the illegals they come up with for that area. This debunkery is premature.

China made good use of the concept.

Faith writes: China made good use of the concept. Yet another proof of the utter ignorance of so many particularly US citizens. No, the Great Walls (and it was walls not wall) were an utter failure.
