Responsible Gun Owner Of The Week
There've been so many thousands and thousands of Isolated Incidents this year that one more Isolated Incident hardly seems worth mentioning. And yet sometimes a Responsible Gun Owner goes above and beyond in his quest for responsibility, and we should salute him for it.
M. D. Harmon, a conservative columnist who frequently wrote in favor of gun ownership rights for the Portland Press Herald, died this week after being accidentally shot by a teenage boy.
As the Press Herald itself reports, the 71-year-old Harmon was showing off one of his guns to a 16-year-old boy in his home in Sanford, Maine, on Wednesday. Harmon apparently let the teenager handle the weapon, which went off while the boy was holding it.
[...]
Harmon was a dedicated defender of gun ownership rights and would regularly rail against attempts to regulate firearms or even make the use of firearms safer.
In a 2013 column, for instance, Harmon attacked proposed legislation in Maine that would have required gun owners to take a firearm safety course in fact, he referred to this section of the legislation as the worst part of the bill.

First Responsible Gun Owner Of The Year
5-year-old girl killed by celebratory gunfire just minutes into New Year’s Day.
Still, at least she didn't take his freedom. So the glass is half full.

Re: Man with concealed-carry permit fatally shoots would-be robber
Hooray! guns will protect us from the ever-present menace posed by ... er ... people with guns.
Unless we happen to be five-year-old girls, of course.

If you've ever wondered how people grow up to be Responsible Gun Owners, it's because they have Responsible parents who teach them to be Responsible when they're kids. As is illustrated by this Isolated Incident.
A child may be several years to young to drive, or vote, or drink a beer, but if you get him a lethal weapon for Christmas he'll suddenly become Responsible.

Another heart-warming tale of Responsibility.
Sheriff's officials say an 83-year-old Florida man fatally shot a woman after her daughter and brother-in-law knocked on his front door while searching for a missing dog.
Manatee County Sheriff's officials tell local news outlets Eugene Matthews opened the door about 7 p.m. Tuesday and started firing a handgun. The bullets struck 64-year-old Rebecca Rawson who had stayed in the car parked outside. She was taken to a hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Responsible Gun Seller Of The Week
http://www.washingtonpost.com/...d-a-gun-with-tragic-results
Janet Delana was desperate to stop her mentally ill adult daughter from buying another handgun.
Finally, Delana called the gun shop a few miles from her home, the one that had sold her daughter a black Hi-Point pistol a month earlier when her last disability check had arrived.
The next check was coming.
Delana pleaded.
Her daughter had been in and out of mental hospitals, she told the store manager, and was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia. She had tried to kill herself. Her father had taken away the other gun, but Delana worried that her daughter would go back.
I’m begging you, Delana said through tears. I’m begging you as a mother, if she comes in, please don’t sell her a gun.
Yeah, this doesn't end well. But hey, $60 profit on the sale of the gun, so that's a silver lining.

Responsible Gun Owner Of The Week
"I was showing the boys the gun and told them not to ever play with it because it can kill someone. Then she walked in the room and I pointed it at her and pulled the trigger, thinking it was empty."
Dad says he fatally shot daughter while teaching gun safety

I'm fine, by the way.
As for the victims, let's hope Trump dedicates a golf trophy to them as soon as possible.
