One of the most disappointing things about Trump is his thin skin. Trump claims, again without any evidence, and in fact against all of the evidence, to have had the largest attendance for an inauguration ever. Reports that his attendance was about average or maybe less really irk Trump and when that happens, the press gets attacked.
Trump's press secretary [Sean Spicer] went off on a screed yesterday complaining about the portrayal of the attendance. Spicer refused to answer any of the presses questions about his rant. Today on "Meet the Press", Kellyanne Conway told folks that it was not the presses job to call statements by the press secretary and the president ridiculous. She then called their version of things "alternative facts". Quite obviously, this idiocy is being directed by Trump himself. Conway: Trump White House offered 'alternative facts' on crowd size | CNN Politics
quote: quote: The term "Alternative facts" apparently means a Trump narrative having no basis in reality and unsupported by anything except Trump's ego. So far the news folks have done a poor job of holding Trump accountable for lying since the election. I have no hope that being caught in lies will affect the base's support for Trump. However, Trump has historically low approval ratings for an incoming president, suggesting that his antics are having at least some effect on those folks who are at least amenable to hearing the truth. Under a government which imprisons any unjustly, the true place for a just man is also in prison. Thoreau: Civil Disobedience (1846) History will have to record that the greatest tragedy of this period of social transition was not the strident clamor of the bad people, but the appalling silence of the good people. Martin Luther King I never considered a difference of opinion in politics, in religion, in philosophy, as cause for withdrawing from a friend. Thomas Jefferson Seems to me if its clear that certain things that require ancient dates couldn't possibly be true, we are on our way to throwing out all those ancient dates on the basis of the actual evidence. -- Faith Some of us are worried about just how much damage he will do in his last couple of weeks as president, to make it easier for the NY Times and Washington post to try to destroy Trump's presidency. -- marc9000

(literally, *every* continent Wow!! Yes including Antartica! After Spicer's rant about the sizes of the crowds, he was asked about the crowds at the Women's Marches. Trump's press secretary did not address that question or any other question about crowd sizes. Under a government which imprisons any unjustly, the true place for a just man is also in prison. Anyone looking for inspiration? Try this: Pictures From Women’s Marches on Every Continent (literally, *every* continent) My wife and I drove to Salem, OR and participated in the Women's March. It poured rain the whole time, but we both enjoyed every minute of it. Later she said she felt invigorated. It was a large crowd, but I have not seen any size estimates. I shot some photos and there were some great signs and slogans. ... It poured rain the whole time, ... We had sun and temperatures above 50°F -- well above normal, as this point is usually our coldest time of the year, so it looks like even the climate was out to refute TrumpleThinSkin. That will be his downfall. But I am not at all disappointed to see him making these early missteps.Fundamentalism - the anti-American, anti-Christian branch of American Christianity

I suspect that will happen just as soon as they get the key things they feel they want out of the way that they figure he can take the blame (credit) for.

his big test will come during his first major crises...how he reacts to it...his demeanor
Chance as a real force is a myth. It has no basis in reality and no place in scientific inquiry. For science and philosophy to continue to advance in knowledge, chance must be demythologized once and for all. —RC Sproul "A lie can travel half way around the world while the truth is putting on its shoes." —Mark Twain " ~"If that's not sufficient for you go soak your head."~Faith Whoever trusts in his own mind is a fool, but he who walks in wisdom will be delivered.~Proverbs 28:26

Please note that they knew it was not going to be huuuge ...
The picture on the left shows large satellite TV screens (I count at least 6) so the people can see and hear (why they group to the left in clumps), while in the picture on the right ... no such screens. There were individual cities that had more people at their Women's Marches and rallies than he had for inauguration. by our ability to understand Rebel☮American☆Zen☯Deist ... to learn ... to think ... to live ... to laugh ... to share. I will say there was a section in the CIA speech he gave that really really has me concerned.
The old expression: to the victor belong the spoils - you remember? You always used to say keep the oil. I wasn’t a fan of Iraq. I didn’t want to go into Iraq. But I will tell you. When we were in, we got out wrong.
And I always said: In addition to that, keep the oil. Now I said it for economic reasons, but if you think about, Mike, if we kept the oil we would probably wouldn’t have ISIS, because that’s where they made their money in the first place. So we should have kept the oil. But okay. [laughter] Maybe we’ll have another chance.

Obama entered the white house with a net worth of something like 2 million dollars. Let's recall that both he and Michelle worked at large law firms before entering public service. The president drew a salary of 400K for 8 years, and now his net worth is estimated at something between 7 and 12 million dollars[1] depending on who does the estimating. Partly raises the quesiton, of course, of why the President should have such an absurdly large salary. The President has several homes - all free, including all the trimmings - the utilities, the staff, the in house medical attention, the bowling alleys, the swimming pools, the linen - all in. He has luxury cars, helicopters and private jets at his disposal for travel. He has a very good health insurance plan. He has an annual expense account much more than double my gross annual wage (bearing in mind this a man who does not need to pay for most of the things which consume my entire income). He has a separate tax-free travel expense account which is twice the size. He has probably the best retirement plan in the world, considering he's never in the job more than a decade. Given all this, I think $50,000 a year would be more than enough compensation.

One more item of feedback:
Hyroglyphx writes: Reduce abortion rights. I'm pretty sure he advocates Roe v. Wade. Trump is evidently against abortion rights. From today's NYT: Trump Revives Ban on Foreign Aid to Health Groups if They Give Abortion Counseling quote: --Percy

It's that it's possible to become wealthy through politics that is wrong. So we disagree. As long as there are no ethical issues involved, I have no problem with a former politician, or anybody else making tons of money. Pay your taxes, donate to charity, and treat your fellow man right, and you are okay in my book. What is it about the fact that Obama may make money writing yet another book, perhaps about his time as president, or going on a lecture tour, that you feel should not be?
