Re: The Wall
And it will be interesting. For example the proposed wall goes right through the water treatment plant of a city down here and would cut off access to the water treatment plant by the city. It also goes right through several homes.

If they are checking the registrations for voters with multiple registrations and dead people, doesn't it also open the door to purged registrations and denied registrations?
The answer, of course, is no. The investigation can be limited by the investigators chosen and the areas they are allowed to investigate.

the spontaneous outpouring of citizenry
I haven't seen anything like the response of the women's march world wide or today's mass outpouring of citizenry all across the US at least since Lyndon Johnson was President. Even then I do not remember the amazing reality of such broad demographics, from all education levels, all ages, all nationalities, all ethnic groups in protest of President Trump.
It really helps show that at the base Americans are pretty good folk and that Trump is the Deplorable one.

Re: the spontaneous outpouring of citizenry
How about that, everything changes over time.
Yet still the people are speaking just as they did in the 50s and 60s and 70s... While il Donald cannot even fill up his designated support station many many thousands more can show up without orchestration, without compensation, all over the world and in cities all across the US to decry the mockery that is the Trump agenda; the perversion of all things good the US stood for that has characterized the Trump Presidency so far.
At least Leni Riefenstahl seemed capable of filling the amphitheater, filling in any gaps in the crowds. It seems il Donald has no one as competent.

At least so far the Trump Presidency has offered lots of humor
You gotta admit that on the upside, the Trump Presidency has so far provided decades worth of material to keep comedians employed. Yes, it has caused pain to some but it was totally impossible to imagine someone finding so many ways to look like an utter ass in so many different mediums as il Donald has managed. This Presidency is proving to be comedy gold.

Which only proves that laughter really does work. Trump has one really big weak spot and that is he really fears being laughed at.

Re: More utter stupidity from the Trump
Percy writes:
Trump lies. We should have buttons made up.
Lying can be a very important asset to any President and so I don't fault Trump too much for lying. The problem is that il Donald is simply not bright enough to know when not to lie. He is simply totally out of touch with reality and lies stupidly. He lies when it is obvious that he will get caught lying.
That reduces any value to the Presidency in lying to the point where it becomes irrelevant and ineffective.
The buttons should say "Trump is too stupid to lie successfully."

A wall around each Nordstrum would certainly create more jobs than one on the southern border. And don't forget to even do the southern border he will have to leave a bag ass gap or wall all around the Tohono O’odham nation.

Fixing the trade balance with Japan.
One topic that has been mentioned as significant is the balance of trade with Japan and in particular the fact that US made cars simply don't sell in Japan. Trump has said he will bring this up when he meets with Abe.
But maybe he is looking in the wrong direction as usual. Maybe he should look at what DOES sell in Japan, what the Japanese consumer wants and that seems to be the Kei cars and utility vehicles.
The Kei cars are tiny, comparable in maximum size to a Smart Car. And they have a maximum engine size of 660cc with no more than 63 horsepower.
So are we sending Kei cars to Japan that can sell at comparable prices to the ones made by Japanese companies in Japan? Can we make such cars here in the US and ship them to Japan to be sold at competitive prices?
Most of the Japanese cars sold in the US are made here in the US by American workers.
Maybe Trump should suggest that Ford and Chrysler and General Motors open plants in Japan employing Japanese workers ... Oh wait...

Trump decides who his cabinet can play with.
It seems that even the Secretary of State cannot select who he wants as a Deputy at the Department.
quote:
Mr. Trump overruled his newly minted secretary of state, Rex W. Tillerson, and rejected the secretary’s choice for his deputy at the department, two people briefed on the decision said Friday.
The deputy’s job was denied for Elliott Abrams, a conservative who had served under President Ronald Reagan and President George W. Bush, deals a blow to Mr. Tillerson in his first week on the job. The rejection of Mr. Abrams leaves Mr. Tillerson without a sherpa to help guide the first-time government official around the State Department headquarters.
From today's NY Times.

Living with the wall
Who remembers Spy vs Spy?
Down here we have already been living with a stupid border wall for some time. We even have this moat that has to be crossed called the Rio Grande River before you get to the wall. But the illegal aliens have high tech devices that allow them to teleport across the barriers. They have inner tubes and even these things called ladders made from stuff called wood. The wall is twenty feet high but they have twenty-two foot ladders.
Oh, and the technology here on our side that the good folk at ICE and Customs and Border Patrol use is mostly twenty years old and older. Oh, and staffing is down. Oh and most of the border roads are not paved. Oh and the budget to clear the border undergrowth was cut and so it's not being done. Oh, and the planned weir project that would deepen and widen the river storing additional water and making access more difficult that been planned for several decades has never been funded.
So Trump wants to build a bigger wall. Sales of 2x4s in Mexico may go up.
It's so silly. Border Patrol Agents find 2x4 ladders lying right next to the wall, but they need to then drive miles and miles to get to a point where they can get to the other side of the fence to then often walk miles and miles back to the point where they found the ladder so they can break it up and shove the pieces parts through to our side to be destroyed. Oh, then they get to walk miles and miles back to the crossing to get their cars and drive miles and miles back to their patrol area.
And the aliens buy another $10.00 bunch of lumber.
AbE: On this side of the border a 2x4x12 is $5.00 so to be honest the 22 foot ladder would probably cost $25.00 at US prices.
