Re: Trump Accuses Obama of Wiretapping his Phones
Actually, indirectly it might even make sense.
As I pointed out earlier in one of these Trump threads, if the US intelligence agencies are doing their job, particularly the NoSuchAgency, they are monitoring Russian phones. Not just some of them but all of the significant ones and many of the others.
If Trump or one of his Minions made a call from the phones at Trump Tower to any of the phones NoSuchAgency is monitoring, that conversation got recorded. There is no need to actually tap the phones at Trump Tower; NoSuchAgency gets all the information from the phone being called.
Sounds like il Donald is trying to prepare a defense.
Made any long distance calls to a +7 number lately Donald?

Re: Trump's New Travel Ban
Percy writes:
These editorials argue that if the travel ban is overturned it will be because its actual purpose is religious discrimination against Muslims.
And the Federal Court in Virginia already did the basic work documenting the evidence for the actual purpose as covered in Message 731 of thread Trump's order on immigration and the wacko liberal response.

From Today's Scientific American
The budget cuts already proposed at NOAA really are just the beginning. It seems almost every Agency that deals with climate or weather or the environment is about to be emasculated.
source
Some parts: The already reported cuts at NOAA specifically targeting satellite technology.
quote:
That's on top of proposed reductions to climate research at U.S. EPA, including a 40 percent cut to the Office of Research and Development, which runs much of EPA's major research. The cuts specify work on climate change, air and water quality, and chemical safety. The Trump administration also has proposed 20 percent staffing reduction at EPA.
quote:
More than a dozen federal agencies, including the U.S. Geological Survey, the Interior Department and the Department of Energy, conduct climate research. Further cuts are expected, particularly at NASA, which develops and launches the satellites that provide invaluable information on climate change used throughout the world. President Trump has called global warming a "hoax," and some congressional Republicans pushing for climate science cuts have falsely claimed that federal scientists are engaged in a massive conspiracy to defraud the American public into thinking that human activity is causing the planet to warm.
quote:
The targeting of climate science goes beyond the work of NOAA and EPA. The Earth Science Division of NASA is another expected target.
This is without a doubt the clearest example of Willful Ignorance writ large I have ever seen. And the Congress is right there with their corporate heads up their asses.
quote:
The administration and congressional Republicans have already spoken about removing or replacing climate research at other federal agencies, as well. At a recent hearing of the House Science Committee, which has jurisdiction over NOAA and other agencies that produce federal climate change research, Chairman Lamar Smith (R-Texas) said he wanted to "rebalance" NASA and shift its climate research to other agencies. Trump transition officials have suggested that NOAA handle NASA's earth science research, but cuts to NOAA suggest the administration is not interested in continuing that research. Smith has also suggested additional scrutiny for science grants from the National Science Foundation, which provides significant funding for climate research.
The bright spot in all this is that the rest of the world can get along just fine without the US and in fact will be happy to see the US bow out as a developed Nation and remain on the sidelines.

How many generations will it take to completely emasculate knowledge?
Only in the US. China and Pakistan and Korea and Japan and India and Iraq and Iran and Brazil and Mexico and Malaysia and Indonesia and Vietnam and the rest of the world will keep advancing.
And they will still need folk to wash their cars, flip their burgers, cut their grass, wash their dishes so there will be many opportunities for kids from the US.

How is that a bright spot?
Well, it is bright in many ways. The addition of knowledge and science will continue, the hungry of the rest of the world will get fed and they will be able to buy and use our remaining natural resources without as great an impact on their resources and environment. The economies of all the other nations will continue to grow.
Change only happens when a pain threshold of not changing is greater than the pain threshold of changing.
AbE: Forgot to add
The US will become even more wealthy, the money from selling just the resources on our public lands will be phenomenal. As we remove worker safety limits and minimum wage restrictions and environmental regulations US industry will be able to produce goods cheap enough to sell to everyone. The stock market will reach unimagined heights for likely a half century. The formula of cheap labor and cheap resources and uncontrolled exploitation has always produced great wealth.

Today we get a twofer.
Today there are two new court challenges the Trump Administration faces. Hawaii has become the first State to challenge the All New Improved Travel nonsense order and in California the San Francisco City Attorney has asked a Federal Judge to invoke an injunction blocking Trumps effort to withhold funding to Sanctuary Cities.

In Good News, China has granted dozens of patentsTradeMarks to TRUMP.

Actually I think that the US workers would not only NOT fight it, I think they will work to make it a fact.
They elected Donald Trump didn't they?
Phat writes:
If necessary we will become the new terrorists and blow their stuff up for a change.
Yup, very possible. But again the evidence shows that they will most likely blow up their own cities and trash the stores and kill each other.
Phat writes:
The US will never play second fiddle to any other class of people or nation. After all, they fought for years for equal pay. We too will insist on it.
Yet who is President?

Wasington State joins Hawaii in suing the Trump Administration.
Washington State has joined with Hawaii to oppose the All New Improved Trump Immigration nonsense.

Re: If You dont Let Us Be Great Again, Nobody Else Will Get To Be Great Either
You don't seem to understand Phat.
There is no need to act like Hitler. The people who actually control those weapons you talk about will benefit. They will get richer. The American citizens will get jobs. Sure the pay will not be enough to live on and they will not get the healthcare common in all the other developed nations but they really have no power.
The politicians and business owners will do great. The military will get paid and new play toys. But big war is bad for business so sorry Charlie, you don't get the worm.
You don't get to have a say in what happens elsewhere.

Trump Travel Ban Part Deux
Well Trump travel ban The Sequel has been halted before it began and so far in two courts. But some parts were left intact and those are among the more frightening.
source
quote:
Left intact, Cox said, were lesser-known provisions, including one that orders Homeland Security and the U.S. attorney general to publicize information about foreign nationals charged with terrorism-related offenses and other crimes. He said the provision seems designed to whip up fear of Muslims.
Note it does not say that they may publish such information but rather that they are directed to.

Trump kills 19 in plain view.
Well Trump just contracted hits on 19 Federal Agencies and now let's see if he loses any votes.
