Marriage is a civil status recognized by the state and that's all of the validation that is required. A wedding is a ceremony, and cutting a cake is just a ritual shared among friends. It is one of the least essential items. Not wanting someone to have a cake is just mean spirited because it would not stop or affect a marriage in any event.
