Thank you for your submission to Science. Your paper was reviewed by a jury of seventh graders so that they could look for balance and to allow them to make up their own minds. We are sorry to say that they found your paper "bogus," specifically describing the section on the laboratory work "boring." We regret that we will be unable to publish your work at this time.

Minds are like parachutes. Just because you've lost yours doesn't mean you can use mine.

Yep. We live in comedian's dream world. No one could have predicted this.
Reality trumps parody.

I can just see Carlin work with this quote: "I could stand in the middle of 5th Avenue and shoot somebody and I wouldn’t lose voters."
He'd get to use all of the heavy seven.
"Those are the heavy seven. Those are the ones that'll infect your soul, curve your spine, and keep the country from winning the war."

Did you hear about the socialist book-crossing group? They're trying to leave their Marx in society.

KelLynConjob does it again
Twitter Hilariously Burns Kellyanne Conway For Microwave Comment
quote:
Twitter is boiling over with hilarity after Kellyanne Conway made a comment about microwaves that turn into cameras.
What I can say is there are many ways to surveil each other now, unfortunately. There was an article this week that talked about how you can surveil someone through their phones, through their certainly through their television sets, any number of different ways, and microwaves that turn into cameras, etc., so we know that that is just a fact of modern life.

Enjoy

I don't care if my TV watches me but I wish it would quit telling me to buy stuff.

I don't care if my TV watches me but I wish it would quit telling me to buy stuff.
The "surveillance" of people by their phones and tv's is to follow their consumption patterns so that they can target ads at you. Facebook does it too. I spent a couple of weeks last year posting humorous definitions of words, and the sidebar went insane trying to keep up. I consider it my civic duty to post whacky stuff now.
But then there is that new doll that can use wireless app to "converse" more intelligently with your child -- and it can be hacked and used to
quote:
New Wi-Fi Barbie doll can be hacked so strangers can listen in to your kids
A new Barbie which is set to pop up in many stockings this Christmas could put your child at risk of being monitored BY HACKERS.
Hello Barbie is the Mattel company's new , much-vaunted smartdoll, boasting internet connection which allows it to listened and talk back to kids.
But it's been revealed that certain issues with the doll's mobile app and cloud storage mean that hackers may be able to eavesdrop.
The news comes from a report by Bluebox Security and independent security researcher Andrew Hay, according to the Washington Post .
The issues were reportedly raised with ToyTalk - the company behind Hello Barbie's vocal skills - in November and they have been working to solve them.
Of more concern for the average person is
quote:
Police admit they are hacking people's phones
People now have to worry about being hacked by criminals and by the police.
After days of questioning, the Tacoma Police Department admitted that the force is using a cell site simulator, also known as a "Stingray," to combat crime.
This Stingray is a piece of hardware made by the Harris Corporation. It tricks phones into connecting to it, like a cell phone tower, but then tracks all of the calls, text messages and data use of cell phones in a half-mile radius. And the public wouldn't know if their phones were one of the devices hacked in such a way.
... They also said they get a warrant from a judge each time the Stingray is used. But the Superior Court presiding judge said that the applications for such warrants never indicated a Stingray was being used to get data rather than the usual request to cellphone providers for the data. ...
But none of this turns microwave ovens into cameras, nor is this wire-tapping by Obama, that's the whacky loony part, but because Trumpf uses an unsecured phone he is open for the stingray hack by anyone, but if it were Obama or an intelligence agency or a law enforcement agency they would have needed a warrant.
