I'm not talking about the time I fell through the roof into a burning building or when I hit a patch of black ice on the interstate in a snow storm and the car totally lost traction and all I could do was turn into the skid and roll off into the median or the time when I was on a practice drill fighting fuel fires standing in the fire pit driving the flames towards an area where foam could be applied and my boot got stuck in the mud and left me standing with one boot missing in the midst of a sea of flames...
I'm talking about the daily shave, the whiskers whacking kind of close shave.
What is your weapon of choice?
What soap or preshave stuff do you use?
How about afterwards?

I just let it grow into a beard, and then I dont have to shave daily. I have too much to do and places to go... to spend twenty minutes a day shaving.
And when in the tropics and 3rd world where we just were for months, no running water meant it was difficult to shave anyway. Let it grow.....
Our forefathers had beards, for the most part, so let'em grow.
Especially at my age, my beard is white. I'm 6'5" 230 lbs, with a white beard.... its great when I carry my rod (walking stick) to fight off predators, etc....
Strange topic that you got promoted, but I always try to follow the TOPIC and stay on TOPIC

Are You Shaved?
Recently I tried one of those Harry's Razors that are advertised on the internet and in print. They have not nicked me so far and the price per blade beats most of the fancier store bought ones.
There are several such shave clubs.
I also buy Cremo Shave Cream
I have found that the shaving creme is kinder to my face than store bought foam.
Not that I am plugging these two products specifically...but that I am against the razors and shaving creams in general that are sold at grocery stores.
My face is smooth and nick free.

Close beard - trimmed once a week with an electric trimmer.
Then shower to get rid of the trimmings.

I like older stuff
I have tried almost every style of shaver out there over the years with the exception of the injector razors. Somehow like with Disco, I was lucky enough to miss that scene. My blade of choice though are old fashioned Double Edged razors.
I have a bunch of DE razors, some were my dad's, others mine, mostly Gillette and also some newer ones.
I sometimes use shaving gel from a can but the norm is to use a badger brush and whip up some lather from soap. My favorite soap has been the same for over a half century, Tabac. I try others for variety but it remains my soap of choice.
Today I used my Gillette slim adjustable from 1963, modern Gillette 7 o'clock blades (made in Russia now I think) followed by another old favorite, Pinaud Clubman aftershave.
My Gillettes all date from just before War II and up until the 70s. I think the newest Gillette I bought was in 1970 and all still work just as they should.
When it comes to new razors I've had very good luck with ones from Merkur (23C & 34C) and from Edwin Jagger (DE89LBL).

I usually have a full beard, but I do shave my neck and cheeks once a week.
Choice of razor: Old fashioned single blade safety razor. My neck is pretty sensitive and the twin blade razors seem to irritate it too much.
Preshave lubrication: Ordinary soap. Gives better results than most commercial shaving creams.
Aftershave: Plain rubbing alcohol. I hate the smell of perfumes and colognes. Sometimes witch hazel.

I haven't shaved since 1982.
But you still looked fantastic in Basic instinct.
I hate to shave and hate having a beard. I just let it grow out till it starts to annoy me, then I take a set of clippers, zip it off and start over again.

Gillette Fusion power every month or so when my beard starts to really annoy me, or my girl starts to pester me. I like it because it does not give a damn how long my bear is it cuts it right down to the epidermus

I'm lucky, I use electric sheers about twice a week to cut the hundred or so, copper like wires that sprout from my chin.

The face is whatever the director has told me to do, though if I'm not doing a show I tend to vacillate between a full beard and a van dyke. Last show was Urinetown, so I was clean shaven while now it's Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf and I've got the beard.
For shaving, I use a Mach 3. The double-bladed razors always got clogged. The third blade means the back is open rather than having the housing in the way and thus it can get cleared out more easily when rinsing.
I tend to use Edge for the shave gel. My sister got me a very nice block of shaving soap...but no brush to use with it, so it's still sitting in the very nice wooden container.
I don't put anything on afterward.
That said, I generally hate shaving and if I don't have to, I just use an inexpensive beard trimmer to clean up. Leaves stubble, yeah, but that's not an issue if I'm not going to be on stage.

Thank you for your submission to Science. Your paper was reviewed by a jury of seventh graders so that they could look for balance and to allow them to make up their own minds. We are sorry to say that they found your paper "bogus," specifically describing the section on the laboratory work "boring." We regret that we will be unable to publish your work at this time.

Hey, I use the Mach 3 and Edge shave gel! Every other day.
My trick (for me) is to exfoliate with a scrub first, then it doesn't really seem to matter which blade/cream I use.
