Re: Trump Approval Rating

I know that Clinton wasn't hated by the press with anywhere near the intensity that Trump is today.
Are you nuts? Trump is not hated by the press, he is amazing. No president in recent memory, certainly since Richard Nixon has provided as much copy, committed as many blunders, made so many idiotic statements as Donald Trump. Why the press and comedians owe Trump a lot. He almost writes their material.

The courts step up once again.
Even as the Trump administration tries to roll back or undo Obama era protections for LGBT people the courts have stepped in to protect them. Today another Federal Court says that long established Federal Civil Rights laws prohibit discrimination on the job against lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender employees.

Say what?
marc writes:
Trump didn't seek the presidency for the money, unlike ALL of his immediate predecessors.
Are you kidding?
What makes you think Trump did not seek the position for the money since it seems so far he has only used it to make money?

He's donating his entire salary, that's not very profitable. What ways has he taken in money as president?
We can't know, can we, since he still refuses to make his finances public.
But what we can know is that he holds events at his properties, has NOT set up the blind trust he promised, has not divorced his businesses from family even while bringing family into government; in other words, he has continued to fail to live up to the promises he made as a candidate in ANY area regarding business or finance or wealth generation.

Trump's lawyers and really stupid filings.
Back in Message 687 and Message 689 we commented on how utterly sophomoric and stupid the Trump lawyers' arguments on why Trump should not be sued for inciting violence but it seems there is no limit to their stupidity.
The latest iteration of play ground bully tactics and despotic behavior is their claim that Trump is immune to being sued because he won the election. It's fine if his Brown Shirts beat up a few people because he is now the Fuhrer.
quote:
Mr. Trump is immune from suit because he is President of the United States, his lawyers wrote Friday, rebutting a complaint filed by three protesters who claimed Trump incited a riot against them at a Louisville event in March 2016.
quote:
And in another new filing in the same case, a Trump supporter accused of assaulting protesters agreed with the plaintiffs that Trump wanted a riot while denying he actually harmed anyone.
Alvin Bamberger, who was seen in a video pushing a protester through a jeering crowd at the Louisville convention center, would not have acted as he did without Trump and/or the Trump Campaign’s specific urging and inspiration, Bamberger's lawyer wrote.
Bamberger denied shoving and striking anyone, as the lawsuit accuses him of. But he admitted to touching plaintiff Kashiya Nwanguma, a 21-year-old college student who had gone to the rally with a protest sign.
And he accepted as true her claims that Trump's speech was calculated to incite violence against the protesters.
quote:
I'd like to punch him in the face, Trump once said of a protester at a rally in Las Vegas, for example.
A week later, when protesters interrupted Trump in Louisville, the candidate responded with scattered commands: Get them out, Get him the hell out, Don't hurt them.
If I say, ‘Don’t hurt them,’ then the press says, ‘Well, Trump isn’t as tough as he used to be,' " he said at one point.

Maybe not so delusional.
quote:
Fascism is a form of radical authoritarian nationalism, characterized by dictatorial power, forcible suppression of opposition, and control of industry and commerce, that came to prominence in early 20th-century Europe. The first fascist movements emerged in Italy during World War I, before it spread to other European countries. Opposed to liberalism, Marxism, and anarchism, fascism is usually placed on the far-right within the traditional left—right spectrum.
quote:
Fascists believe that liberal democracy is obsolete, and they regard the complete mobilization of society under a totalitarian one-party state as necessary to prepare a nation for armed conflict and to respond effectively to economic difficulties. Such a state is led by a strong leadersuch as a dictator and a martial government composed of the members of the governing fascist partyto forge national unity and maintain a stable and orderly society. Fascism rejects assertions that violence is automatically negative in nature and views political violence, war, and imperialism as means that can achieve national rejuvenation. Fascists advocate a mixed economy, with the principal goal of achieving autarky through protectionist and interventionist economic policies.

Re: What Republicans say: then and now
You need to understand that what we see is simply a continuation of the Fundamentalist practice of Source over Content.
Their God says kill folk, that's fine.
Their God lies to Adam & Eve and it's just fine.
Their God changes Pharaoh's mind and then kills the innocent first born children for it, that's fine.
Their President shares information given with the condition it would not be shared, that's fine.
It's not a matter of what is done but rather who is doing it.
And there is an unlimited supply of Apologists to find excuses.

Lock Reporters Up??????????????????
The most recent revelation is a claim that during the talk where Trump is alleged to have asked Comey to drop the investigation of Flynn he also suggested Comey should lock reporters who publish leaked information up.

Tricky Dick would have liked that as well.

Trump claims that it's a Witch Hunt.
Trump claims that it's a Witch Hunt.
Next he'll claim we dressed him as a witch.
And put the witch nose on him.
And that he didn't turn Gingrich into a newt or that the newt got better.
So let's weigh him against a duck.
This administration so far has been a piss poor parody of the Flying Circus meets a Little bit of Fry & Laurie.

Trump shows his concern for the least of these.
The upcoming Trump Budget hopes to address many of the ills the US faces. It will support cutting billions from Medicaid coverage and allow States to encourage our citizens to become more active by imposing work requirements as a condition for receiving anti-poverty program aid. It will encourage people to move out of poverty and into the workforce.
