Re: From the "Report Discussion Problems Here 4.0" topic
The Evolution. We Have The Fossils. We Win. thread has again devolved into snide comments, this time directed at Mike the Wiz. I'd step in, but Mike's post made as little sense to me as it did to everyone else. I read Mike's post before anyone posted replies, and I was hoping someone else could make sense of it, but it looks like no one did. I do think we should expect polite responses to posts whose point isn't clear, but Mike has a long history of nonsensical posts. Asking people to behave like they never met Mike before and to reply politely every time he joins a new thread to post more nonsense doesn't seem reasonable.
About Coyote's response to Faith, as with Mike the Wiz's post, I had already read Faith's post before it drew any replies, and I had problems with it, too. She posted the same arguments she's posted before as if she hadn't already participated in many other threads where those exact arguments were already discussed at length. She exhibited no awareness of the counterarguments she knows were made, no interest in where those prior discussions had eventually led. For that reason Coyote's reposting of the unicorn image had additional meaning for me. Not only does Faith's position on the issues seem delusional, so does her expectation that yet another debate of the same arguments will end differently.
Note that I'm not objecting to discussing things that have been discussed before. I have no problem with that. But those who have participated in prior discussions shouldn't be arguing as if they never happened. Arguing that way would be like playing an old mp3 and expecting to hear something different.

Re: Talking Honest - Not Allowed?
Hi Jon,
This is representative of some of what you've been posting recently:

I want civil and constructive debate, and this is neither.
I'm not going to further explain the obvious or argue with you.

I don't see any note posted to the thread, but it looks like someone already reopened it.

Looks like Adminnemooseus took it out of summation mode. You should be all set.

8. Lastly, just a gentle reminder, . . . you do know it is bad form to be both participant and moderator in the same thread, especially while in the middle of a debate. Asking a co-moderator to assist would seem to be a more even-handed action.
I said I would follow standard administrative procedures. For me as a participant to become a moderator entails recusing myself from discussion in the thread for two days before taking over moderation.
a. Precedent: I’ve been posting these type of photos, that ARE supportive evidence, for a long time on the forum (years?). Curiously, you only started to object when I was specifically debating you.
Obviously one person can't read everything posted to the forum, and this is the first time I've seen a post from you with such photos. Please stop.
The topic has veered off-topic to A valid reason to vote 3rd Party before I posted anything. You yourself have participated in this off-topic discussion for several dozen posts.
Topic diversions are not discouraged unless they interfere with the main topic.
a. Repeatedly posting I think you're still forgetting to take your meds may not help create a respectful environment for a ‘decent place. It would be helpful if you model the type of behavior you want others to copy.
Well, then, if both of us behave respectfully and work toward making this a decent place then there shouldn't be any problem, should there.
