Re: the Leftist Totalitarian Tactics haven't let up
Scary to think that we could have a Leftist coup, the overthrow of a legitimately elected President....
Even if the results of the current investigations warranted impeachment proceedings, it seems strange to me to call it a "leftist coup". Removal of the President would require two-thirds of the Senate to vote for conviction, and even the wildest optimistic projections don't seem to give the "leftists" that big of a margin in 2018.
Plus, the conviction of Trump would make Pence the President. That's not what I would call a coup. Or if there's a deliberate plan to replace Trump with Pence, that would be a coup be the establishment conservatives, not the "leftists".

Re: more of the same
What has happened to civility, to our vaunted freedoms?
Well, Faith, here's the thing: we live in what is supposed to be a constitutional republic that is supposed to operate under rule of law.
That means that the President isn't a dictator just because he wins an election, and the majority of Congress can't just do whatever they want because they win elections. The executive branch and the regulatory agencies only have authority given to them (and have some obligations they need to address) by the laws passed by Congress. If someone believes the President's actions are against the law, then they have the right to bring suit to court to stop it; if the courts agree, then there it is.
Congress has the authority to pass laws, but they are under the constraint of what the Constitution allows. If the a person believes that a law pass by Congress is unconstitutional or that an action by the President violates the Constitution, they have the right to bring suit in a court of law. If the court agrees, well, there it is.

The attack on Trump is absolutely unprecedented, it's a concerted effort by political and media POWERS to bring him down.
What's unprecedented is the level of illegal actions taken by the Trump administration and how offensive the people find them.

Re: Who will be the first A-hole
You didn't notice the mainstream news media yesterday trying to downplay and hide the fact that this guy worked for Bernie Sanders?
I can't speak for all the mainstream news and I don't know what gets counted as "downplaying", but this morning the New York Times had an article on the front page that made it clear that Hodgkinson supported left wing causes and was a Bernie Sanders supporter.

Re: more of the same
Trump has done nothing unconstitutional or illegal, that's ALL drummed up by the Left.
The "Left" did more than "drum" stuff up. People opposed to Trump 's policies presented their case in a court of law. Trump's representatives presented their case. The court decided that certain policies were, in fact, illegal or unconstitutional. And that is how we decide in the US whether something is illegal or unconstitutional: both sides present their case in a court of law and the court makes the decision. I admit it's not a perfect process, but nothing is perfect; more to the point, I can't think of a better way of resolving these kinds of disagreements.
Of course, the Trump Administration hasn't yet exhausted the appeals process, so the final determination may change.

Re: more of the same
Courts these days are politicized.
Were the courts politicized when they ruled against Obama in Burwell v Hobby Lobby? How about when it ruled against Obama's EPA in Michigan v EPA?
'Cause every time someone says something like "the courts are politicized", it usually really means, "I don't like the courts' rulings."

They have no choice but to report most of the basic truths, because they know those truths are going to be all over the internet and conservative news and commentary.
Or they reported it because that's their job as journalists; they felt the information is important and they felt it's their professional duty to get this news out to the people.

Not joking, but...
They're selling ad space - that is all.
At least what you say makes more sense than this weird fever dream that the contemporary American right wing is some poor persecuted minority and that the mainstream media is part of a vast "Leftist" conspiracy to destroy them and everything good about America.

Boy, Democrats and Republicans sure do dislike each other!
At the risk of derailing this thread even further, the vitriol in the current discussions make this article from this morning's New York Times relevant:
How We Became Bitter Political Enemies
Democratic and Republican voters don’t just disagree about the right way to reform health care or the true intentions of President Trump. Many despise each other, and to a degree that political scientists and pollsters say has gotten significantly worse over the last 50 years.
...
Mr. Iyengar doesn’t mean that the typical Democratic or Republican voter has adopted more extreme ideological views (although it is the case that elected officials in Congress have moved further apart). Rather, Democrats and Republicans truly think worse of each other, a trend that isn’t really about policy preferences. Members of the two parties are more likely today to describe each other unfavorably, as selfish, as threats to the nation, even as unsuitable marriage material.
As I said, mostly for informational purposes. Someone can start a New Topic if they think this is worth discussing in more detail.
Added by edit: Oops. I thought this was the Muslim thread. I guess this may not be as far off topic as I was thinking.

Re: The Left finally getting busted
And now CNN has been exposed admitting the Trump-Russia collusion stories have all been fake news.
Here is an article about this from the Guardian: 'Fake news': Trump tweets glee as three CNN journalists resign over Russia story.
Basically, one story was posted on CNN's website without going through their normal checks and was removed by the end of the next day.
Bit of a stretch to conclude, then, that every story on every outlet is also fake.

So Chiroptera was right and you are ignorant.
To be fair, I'm kind of one of the ignorant ones here. I thought that a single news story was being misrepresented. I didn't realize that O'keefe was pissing in the drinking water again and that is what people are talking about.
