Once again the Trump Administration, this time through Jeff Sessions, shows they have no regard for the rule of law or the protections of the US Constitution and authorizes Police to simply confiscate property from US Citizens who have not been convicted of a crime or even charged with a crime without any concern for Constitutional Rights.
This should scare the shit out of every citizen.

I read on the BBC news website that Trump is considering using Presidential pardon powers to pardon his family, aides and even himself, if the current investigations lead to any unlawful activity being uncovered: Donald Trump insists he has 'complete power' to pardon - BBC News
There is an element of speculation to this, but it is hard to see what else his tweet was referencing. I'm hard pushed to think of any more fundamental pillar of a liberal democracy, than the principle that our leaders are subject to the full force of the law, in exactly the same way as every other citizen. Is it too much to hope that even a proportion of Trump supporters might realise how utterly wrong it would be for him to pardon himself or his family in relation to any crimes they may have committed ?Could there be any greater conceit, than for someone to believe that the universe has to be simple enough for them to be able to understand it ?

Gerald Ford was an honorable, kind and honest person and a pretty good President yet his pardon of Richard Nixon, even if done for the good of the country, was not forgiven and he was not reelected. But that was a different set of Republicans and not the band of the deplorables we have today.

Gerald Ford was an honorable, kind and honest person and a pretty good President yet his pardon of Richard Nixon. Legally, receiving a pardon is not an admission of guilt, but... the grant of a pardon is an imputation of guilt. The pardon granter is saying he believes you the pardon recipient are guilty. Now, what does it mean if you give yourself a pardon? That's a self-imputation, and pretty much an admission of guilt. A pardon is ineffective against impeachment. A pardon also removes the ability to take the 5th. All in all, a self-pardon may be most unwise, and pardoning guilty folks before an investigation is complete may well be nearly as unwise. ABE: Another scenario. Someone is threatened with criminal sanctions for not reporting contact with the Russians on their security clearance application. Trump pardons them. That person surely is not keeping his security clearance after that, right? Edited by NoNukes, : No reason given. quote: He said he would keep the deal during the campaign, and it distinguished him from all other candidates (except perhaps Rand Paul) Trump did , however, boast that he would use his clever cunning toughness to use every last line of the deal to make life like hell on Iran as the nation struggled to fulfill its end of the bargain.

If anyone had any doubt that Trump is a vain, narcissist, those doubts would have been cleared up by listening to Trump's speech to the Boy Scouts yesterday.
Does anybody want to take a stab at explaining how this speech was all about the boy scouts rather than all about Trump? Some choice excerpts:

It's a sad day when Trump actually does something positive and the media still try to 'blame Russia'. Also when Fox News is being more impartial than the others.

Trumps play book seems to consist of using lots of adjectives to validate the nonsense that generally follows and very little else.

I like the Don. I don't get the Don, at all. Impulsive, etc. He's funny, though.
At least he gave me some insentive to take a few Mandarin classes. I have to understand how the next superpower will work when those guys talk amongst themselves. I admit that, for me, that education will take quite a few years. I'm still struggling to get the Amcan sense of humour after 40 years. I don't get The Don or The Bushy humour, at all... It's a Fox News video covering an editorial comment on why TRUMP discontinued the CIA Covert arming of the anti-Assad forces.
The gist of the video is that Russia has been supporting Assad and many in the media have suggested that Trump's motive was to please Russia and Putin but the Fox folk list other possible motives. The problem is that Trump is simply not capable of presenting a cohesive explanation of why he does anything and since it was supposedly a covert CIA action publicly announcing that it was stopped is what Trump is always bitching about, yet another Leak.

It is much easier to act presidential than what we are doing here tonight, believe me," Trump said. "With the exception of the late, great Abraham Lincoln, I can be more presidential than any president that's ever held this office. Trump is a buffoon. Pure and simple.
