I thought it might be fun to take a look at a little bit of our Southern Border; not much, only a 30 mile or so stretch. I thought we could begin at one of my favorite places, the Los Ebanos International Ferry crossing. The ferry is drawn across the river by hand and there are times you are expected to help pull.
Here is the route, as I said, about 30 miles and it generally takes me about 20 minutes to drive from my house to Los Ebanos or from my house to Alamo.
Here you can see the crossing and from now on I'll post overlapping aerial views so you can follow the border which is the mid point of the Rio Grande River. Remember boaters use the river freely.
That concludes this short visit through part of La Frontera. The big town south of the river is Reynosa where pretty much all out war is going on between three factions, the Police/Army and two Drug Cartels who are fighting over control of the immigration/importation/customs rights between the US and Mexico.

That's a lot fancier than the Boquillas International Ferry. I bet the folks at Big Bend are jealous!

building the wall
If anyone looks at the images they can see how many times the border itself has changed recently. So what happens every time the Rio Grande decides to change it's course?
