The Eclipse Conspiracy
The Eclipse Conspiracy -
Something doesn’t add up
quote:
Let’s follow the money a little further. Hotels along the path of totalitya region drawn up by Obama-era NASA scientistshave been sold out for months. Some of those hotels are owned and operated by large multinational corporations. Where else do these hotels have locations? You guessed it: Washington, D.C.
In fact the entire politico-scientifico-corporate power structure is aligned behind the eclipse. This includes the mainstream media. How many news stories have you read about how the eclipse won’t happen?
How many here are planning to view the eclipse on August 21? I had originally planned to camp along the John Day River, a few miles east of the town of Spray, Oregon, but then we started hearing that 1.5 million people were expected to visit Oregon for the event. An estimated 12,000 people were expected in Spray, a dinky place, population 160. It is going to be the biggest traffic jam in the history of Oregon.
It is starting to become known as The great Eclipse Cluster-Fuck of 2017.
It is right in the middle of wildfire season and emergency services are going to be overwhelmed by the number of normal emergencies that occur in any group of 1.5 million people, let alone that many who are stuck in traffic jams on curvy 2 lane highways in the eastern Oregon outback.
My house is in the path of totality, not the middle, but we will have over 1 minute in the shadow. We are having a party the night before with kids and grandkids and will have 2 telescopes set up. I hope to get a few photos, but I learned from past solar eclipses to not spend much of totality taking photos. Much more memorable to just observe.

If you reserved a motel room and the eclipse does not show up can you get a refund?

We are expected to see 60% coverage here so I'm asking $3600.00 a night for my spare bedroom.

Bart Simpson was horsing around at the swimming pool, broke his arm and had to spend the rest of the summer indoors. Lisa gave him her telescope to pass the time. He saw all of the stars, planets, comets, etc. and said, "Wow! The universe is soooooo... boring!"
Back in the seventies I saw an eclipse that was dramatic enough for the streetlights to come on. I don't really need another one.

I'll make do with the partial eclipse visible where I live.
I thought about driving 200 miles, or so. But it will be a mad house. I'll stay home and keep my sanity.

I am planning on driving to the Idaho/Oregon border (about 1 hour drive) and driving into farm country. Hopefully there will be some open farm roads to pull over and watch. The closest towns to me would be Ontario and Weiser, but they are probably going to be a mess. Some acquaintances of mine are heading up to Stanley, ID this weekend and through the eclipse, which would be a blast.

94% coverage where I am. That's good enough.

Nope
I've seen 2 total eclipses and 94 % isn't anything near the same. Neither is 99%.

Taq, I hope to see you around Ontario - I'm going up to see my brother in Idaho, and just coincidentally see the eclipse.

It's tempting to drive into Ontario, but I think I will try my luck in the outlying areas. Enjoy your time in Idaho!
