Re: How is it going?
One thing you might want to do is take a look at zinc supplements. While not a ' cure all' by any means, it does reduce chances of prostate problems.

An update
I guess since I have had an easy time of it I didn't think I needed to say much.
I had my hemicolonectomy and was out in 2 days and felt ok mostly in a week.
DId I say that already?
Any way I have a clean prognosis now but will be followed of course. I have been impressed with everything.

Re: How is it going?
Well I guess it is that time for an update.
Officially I am on hospice. That doesn't mean that I've given up or anything it just means that right now there's nothing for me to work on and I'm just working on feeling better.
Currently my life is working on goals. I made it to my big family reunion trip up to Northern Michigan and it was fabulous. Made a long day trip to Chicago yesterday with my granddaughter to see her very first play for her 5th birthday.
The biggest news was my daughter managed to surprise me with a wedding. She knew I desperately wanted to be at her wedding and she planned it in 3 weeks and I got to be there with her brother, Perdition, officiating.
Next goals in line are for the second granddaughter's first birthday in January. Next comes my daughter's graduation hopefully in December if not this spring. She will be a wonderful teacher.
My hospice nurse says she currently has people who have been on hospice for over 3 years. My very biggest goal is to beat that record.
Once again feel free to follow me on Facebook at Gayla.Ross. Send me a message real quick to let me know who you really are. I don't plan on going anywhere too quickly.
Love you all.

Re: How is it going?
Cheers, Asgara, I've been praying for you, so glad to see you hanging in there. Family reunions are great things, wonderful to see people you haven't seen in decades. I went to one in May and in fact I went straight out of the hospital with doctor's permission -- GI bleed, no known cause, who knows what it will turn out to be but it hasn't come back so far. But it's nice to hear you're carrying on so well.

I want to help you beat that record! Feel free to say hello to me on FB anytime.
None of us ever know how many days, weeks or years we will live, but we CAN focus on quality rather than simply quantity. Do you ever have any volunteers from the community come and visit you? I have a question for you. What traits do you respect and value the most in a true empathetic and useful volunteer?

Hi Asgara
It was good to get an update but obviously you are still having your struggles. The fact that you have such a strong mental attitude will carry you a long way as well. There is so much cancer research going on as well and they are making great progress. There are reasons to be optimistic.
Like NoNukes and Faith, my prayers are with you.

Asgara has always been no nonsense, and I have always respected her for this, even though her and jar always challenged the dogma that religion taught me. She seems to be a sweet yet feisty soul from what I perceive of her on the internet.
Asgara I messaged you on Facebook, though I understand if you are busy or tired today. I hope and pray that you stay with us a long time and that you meet your goals and make more of them.
I would be scared to death of facing some of the challenges you have and realize that religion does not help in these things. Its all about character and you are a unique one.

Re: How is it going?
Hi Asgara,
If I'm out of line let me know but I keep getting emails and other information about nutrition advice for everything including cancer, and since I've become worried about my own possible health problem I'm reading up on it even more than usual. GI bleed, unusual pain in gut, that sort of thing. I finally decided I don't want to find out if it's cancer, and if I did find it out I wouldn't take the usual treatments anyway, I would try the nutritional route for better or for worse.
I'm wondering what you've tried along these lines and if you'd be interested even at this late date in trying again? The most basic thing is carrot-apple juice. People have claimed that alone cured them of cancer. But they don't fool around with it, we're talking over three quarts a day of the stuff an 8-ounce glass at a time. The Gerson Institute is the source of that plan. Jay Kordich, who was also a big promoter of juicing, who died at 93 fairly recently, said he was inspired by Max Gerson's juicing cure for cancer when he had bladder cancer as a young man, said he did the thirteen glasses a day for I forget how long and claims it completely cured him.
Yes it's all anecdotal and probably sounds wacky too but I finally talked myself into doing it and reading up more on the Gerson plan. They believe in things I don't believe in, they reject salt and animal protein for instance, but I'm beyond caring, their system seems to work and I want to try it. If you are doing chemotherapy regularly there may be some kind of conflict you should find out about, but if you did go this route you'd stop all that kind of thing cold. There's lots on Gerson on You Tube and elsewhere. His daughter Charlotte is still living and teaching the method at the age of 95.
Whatever you think I wish you the best.

more on nutrition
Just a couple more things since you didn't tell me to take a flying leap.
I got an email a few days ago headlining a guy named Chris who says he beat cancer nutritionally, stage 3C colon cancer IIRC. He had it in 2003 I think he said, refused the standard treatments, did a lot of research on nutrition and claims to be cured. He's doing a ten-day live-stream series on how he cured himself starting on Sept 12. I don't know anything about his solutions, probably similar to Gerson's and others, but I decided I'm going to follow it and see if he has anything worthwhile to say. If you're interested the URL to his page is
Learn how people are healing cancer naturally
And an anecdote of my own. My brother and I knew a local man who had prostate cancer and consumed prodigious amounts of carrot juice that kept him alive for another 25 years. My brother remembers him taking a cartload of ten-pound bags of carrots to the checkout stand at the market. Probably not organic, and of course the Gerson people are big on organic. But we do what we can.

the negative side
Researching Gerson's ran across this guy who tried it and gave it up:
Too expensive
Too time-consuming
Hated the food
And it didn't work for him
From him I did get an idea what all it involves and I know I won't be trying anything close to the whole plan. The juices may be the extent of it as a matter of fact and probably not at the rate they prescribe either, and I'll probably do some combos I know are good for me whether they prescribe them or not. So who knows, I may eventually have to go see the doctor after all. So maybe this whole idea is a bust. I'm still going to watch the Chris stuff though.

Time, cancer, and family
I would never tell you to take a flying anything Faith
I tend to stay away from anything too alternative but i am reading and listening through your links. Motivation and energy are my downfalls currently. When I have both in some abundance I like to plan things with my family, especially the now TWO granddaughters that Perdition and his wife have given me. Moira just turned 5 and Keira is 7.5 months.

Re: Time, cancer, and family: try CBD
Both you and Faith need to watch this video
http://healthyreport.info/...reakthrough-vape-canabidoil-cbd
and if you haven't tried CBD, my opinion is that you owe it to yourself and your family to try it.
Worst case scenario is that nothing happens. There are no bad side effects, there are no psychotropic effects (highs, hallucinations, etc -- those come from THC).
Please.
