Hurricane Irma likely to be far worse than monster Andrew. They estimate that Irma will cause 50 billion dollars in damage to the United States. (Some insurance underwriters say the bill could be 300 billion with a direct hit on Miami)
This is based on the 26 billion that Andrew caused, extrapolated into 2017 dollars. Look at the relative size of Irma compared with Andrew(Images superimposed)

Maybe those hurricanes hitting Texas and Florida is God's way of punishing Texans and Floridians for voting Trump?

I was living in Melbourne Beach Florida (8ft above sea level and about 50 miles south of the Space Center) when Andrew hit. It was a beautiful sunny day as all the clouds/moisture were being sucked into Andrew.
Unfortunately, the latest track has the eye of Irma going directly over Orlando and my home. Edited by kjsimons, : No reason given.

I wish you all the best. Get away.
Even Afghanistan would be safer. And the weather is nice this time of year over there. Or so I heard. Edited by Pressie, : No reason given.

Well.. let's look at it.
One of the big pieces of property in St Martin's was Trump's mansion he was trying to sell for 48M dollars. That is totally destroyed. Next on the list is Mar Largo. We'll see what Irma does to that. The only conclusion I have is that God hates Trump.

I have two elderly friends on the west coast of Florida, which usually doesn't get the brunt of hurricanes. But this time it's going to hit them pretty hard too. One of them is closer to members of my family so I figure they are in touch; I'm in touch with the other one who says he's laid in a lot of provisions and figures with faith he and his cats will be fine. I hope he's right but he didn't mention laying in water, or any way of preserving food if the power goes out (which it has already for 25000 people south of him), or an alternative source of power, a kerosene lantern? I suppose he at least has candles. A TWELVE-FOOT surge is possible. Yikes.

Trump has enough resources that even losing a couple of expensive properties won't make a dent in them you know. It's the poorest people who will suffer the most as usual, the ones who will never get their houses back and have nowhere else to go.

Irma is Trump's fault?

I hate to make light of the disasters happening, but...
I got to wondering if there was any correlation between major hurricanes and which party held the White House. I didn't do in depth research, but I did discover this article:
Obama Longest-Serving President With No Major Hurricane Strike Dated January 23, 2017
quote: ...and at the end of the article:

One disgruntled resident ranted that the forecasts had been for the eastern side of Florida until recently and he was mad at the weather service for misleading him! Hurricanes are notoriously unpredictable. Just too many variables to be able to properly forecast passed a certain time-frame. Being in Central Florida, we are usually in the safest part of the state, depending on the path of various storms. By the way, as of this morning, I am just starting to feel the outer effects of Irma. Lots of cloud cover and drizzle. By this afternoon and evening, the winds will pick up and the rain will become more intense. The good news from my perspective is the main eye of the storm is well west of me. But due to the size of Irma, pretty much everyone in the whole state is affected.
