Thanks, jar.

I guess there's not going to be any further questioning of the correlation of lower income and education with increasing religiosity. Boy, nothing like a little hard evidence to squelch discussion. I guess this is what Dawn Bertot would call fascism!
So are atheists behaving insanely by ignoring all the benefits of religion? No, of course not, because the kinds of lives that result from lack of exposure to all the religious malarkey are far better in terms of health and longevity. The differences in income and education only emerge statistically when comparing the major religions, but one only has to examine an extreme sect such as the FLDS (polygamous Mormon group) to see firsthand the obvious negative effects of high religiosity. FLDS members suffer from living remotely with low incomes and insufficient access to adequate healthcare combined with the ignorance that encourages behaviors like inbreeding that causes mental and physical disabilities in children.
The average lives of human beings have steadily improved over time as we better understand reality. It makes perfect sense that the more of reality one ignores the worse one will fare.

The censorship policy here at EvC is one of my biggest joys ad keeps me coming back.

Anyone so limited that they can only spell a word one way is severely handicapped!

As he himself has been bankrupt several times, perhaps he is unafraid to lead the country the same direction.
il Donald has never been personally bankrupt, he has always protected his personal assets. It is his businesses and those that counted on his businesses that have gone bankrupt.
There is no reason to think he will personally go bankrupt anytime in the future. Remember, former Presidents do get a pension that is currently about $200K as well as another non-Taxable expense account.

The Debt Ceiling is necessary.
Having a Debt Ceiling is very good for several reasons.
First, it forces the subject to be publicly discussed and debated.
Second, it requires at least a minimal oversight on spending.
Third, it provides a specific self imposed limit yet can be modified as conditions change.

What we really need are Politicians capable of looking beyond the next newscast.

It can't...because the debts to the government are the debts to the social security trust funds. Look at it as a debt to future obligations.
But it can.

If there's not enough money in the social security trust fund to pay social security; then the government would just have to pay the payouts directly, wouldn't it?
Not if it decides not to pay. The government can revise the Social Security rules at any time it wishes or even abolish Social Security if it wants.

Social Security came from our earnings and should be ours---forever.
Yet that really is irrelevant. The reality is what the elected officials decide will be reality. FDR is not in office currently nor is any of the Congress that voted for it still in office.

Re: Understanding Money
Not really Phat. It is only the old and sick and injured that rely on Social Security.
Now consider the young working class.
When the candidate tells them that they will get to keep 10% more every paycheck so they can prepare for their future if they elect him; who will they vote for?
Old sick and injured never put on successful revolutions.
Young folk are indestructible and will never get old.

It is unlikely that it will be the wealthy that are the issue but rather the young working class voters that will elect the people that will gut Social Security.
