As of May 2015 the Polar ice is 5% larger than the 1979 size was.
If the earth is getting so much warmer due to our emissions into the air how is that possible?
What do short-term fluctuations have to do with long-term trends?

But you only have data from 1979 until the present to work with. So what long term fluctuations are you talking about?
There is a long-term trend in temperatures, which you don't seem to deny. There's no reason why the ice caps can't get bigger in the short term even if the temperature is rising in the long term.

Maybe you should define what you mean by a "coherent thermodynamic definition".

A thought occurred to me the other day: If your solar panels are installed on the roof, what happens when your shingles need to be replaced?

It's always nice to have a massive government report to confirm the obvious.

Absent the science, and the government report is simply a report of the consensus among scientists, I would suggest that the fact that humans are the driver of global client change is not obvious.
Absent the science, it isn't obvious that the world is round. If the government figures it out, we'd better stop the presses.
But the science isn't absent; we've known about it for a long time.

Well, that's what happened. It happened a while ago already and the pile is still getting bigger. So yes, it is @#$%ing obvious and we didn't need the government to confirm the obvious.

I am taking issue with the claim that the relative size of the human contribution is of no importance. That's simply incorrect.
I think we'd be better off if we had never figured out that the globe was warming. We could be reducing our use of fossil fuels because they pollute the air we breathe.

That's always the way it is with you, isn't it? If reality doesn't fit the Bible, reality must be wrong.

The summers are much hotter and more humid and fall starts later. Not necessarily the worst thing if you live there I guess.
In Saskatchewan we had one warm evening this past summer. The nights have been downright cold. No thunderstorms to speak of. Our climate seems to be getting less extreme than it used to be.
I'm not a climate-change denier by any means but I don't believe in blaming every car accident on climate change. Sometimes a car just runs into a bandwagon.

I'm sure if some great number of us asked God to spare us, He would....
That isn't how He works though, is it? He picks one person, such as Noah or Abraham, and spares one family from the general slaughter. Abraham personally advocated for the Sodomites and Gomorrites but Noah didn't even bother to do that. To be fair, he was busy building the ark, while Abraham only had to check the fire extinguishers....

Re: A Sort Of Climate Change Related Question
I think you have it about right. According to the Lowes website, windstorm sheathing comes in 10-foot lengths. What they illustrate isn't actually plywood; it's chipboard, which is what is normally used for sheathing (up here out of hurricane-range, anyway).
As for "additional hardware", you can get aluminum clips with an H cross-section to reinforce joints that don't have blocking behind them.

And our geese will blot out the sun.
