Remember that there would never have been our Thanksgiving if the Protestant Christians of England had not chased the crazy Puritan nutjobs out of the country.
That is certainly something England and Europe should be thankful for but I still wish they had chased them to Canada or Australia or India instead of here.
I learned something new. One would think I would have learned this history years ago, but I never paid much attention to it. The Congregationalists and the Presbyterians, eh? Interesting!
Its funny how tradition influences people even today. We have customers just coming back from out of town who nevertheless simply *have* to buy a turkey and have their own dinner. Seems Thanksgiving is a celebration of Gods blessing and bounty upon peoples lives--at least for many. Others skip the prayer unless their team happens to be losing.
Chance as a real force is a myth. It has no basis in reality and no place in scientific inquiry. For science and philosophy to continue to advance in knowledge, chance must be demythologized once and for all. —RC Sproul
