Re: And Now Some Ankylosaurs
As well as the flood killing all them fishies from too much water I guess and also excluding all the humans that god character set out to get rid of.
Sorry but the Biblical Floods are just too funny.

Anyone so limited that they can only spell a word one way is severely handicapped!

Those instances are not new species, they are just new varieties or breeds that are genetically depleted.
And we can assume you will present the genetic evidence showing "genetic depletion"?

Re: Just the Facts, Ma'am
The answer of course is Continuous Sequential Creation.
In the beginning God created single celled organisms that lived in the sea and all the land was barren.
Then God killed off all those critters and said "Let there be Plants in the Sea" and there were plants in the Sea.
Then God killed off all those plants and created new plants and even plants on land, but no grasses or flowers.
Then later God created grasses and flowers and reptiles but no dinosaurs or mammals.
Then God killed off almost all those reptiles and created dinosaurs and runty little mammals.
And then ... and then ... (insert several more killemoffs) ... and then God created apes.
And the rest, as they say, is history.
All this must be in the Bible, you know, the begets and begots or days of creation or ... wait, once again that isn't what is in the Bible is it?

not just the bones
It's not just the bones; there are other indicators that may even be more common and more lasting than bones.
If we found an ancient city where all the doorways were over 12 feet high and over 6 feet wide and all the furniture was sized for giants and remnants of clothes and armor were similarly sized and structures built to support 500-800 pound people and tools and weapons too big for today's humans to use, and all other features also supporting big ass people then it might be reasonable to think big ass people lived there.
But we don't find such evidence. In fact what we do find seems to indicate that the norm has been around pretty much what we see today.

Ah, yes. If the evidence for giants really did get out it would certainly derail the plans to ... to ... to...
I missed something. Exactly which of our their plans will it derail?

Birds as well. Back when I was living on Hilton Head we had a pyracantha growing in front of the window next to the front door of the villa (better protection than burglar alarms). Every year when the berries ripened the Cedar Waxwings descended on the bush and gorged on the fallen fruit until they got so drunk the simply fell over. The first time it we returned to find birds littering the entrance we were worried and called the guard gate fearing someone had put out poison only to be greeted with laughter. Their suggestion was to sweep them off the path and just wait. Sure 'nuff in about thirty minutes a miracle had happened and all the dead birds had flown away.
Except Cliff and Norm who were back at the bar.

what a pathetic God Dredge markets
Dredge writes:
The geological and fossil record is not evidence of "evolution" but of successive divine creations that existed and were destroyed before the "six days" of creation described in Genesis. This creation we live in now will in turn be replaced by another creation - "a new heaven and a new earth" mentioned in Revelation 21.
What a truly pathetic little deity you try to sell; utterly incompetent and not even able to do anything successfully. Why would anyone even laugh at a God that is that pathetic and picayune? The best is to pity your God and you for buying such a worthless product.
Plus it's obvious you do not even believe in the Bible but rather like all Biblical Christians simply ignore what is written in the Bible stories.
Or maybe you are like most Bible Christians that have simply never honestly read the Bible?

Percy, I hope you will wander over to the RC Sproul thread and contribute since the Unitarians and the Congregationalists represent one end of the church Governance spectrum. Of all the Denominational Churches the Congregationalists may well be the most bottom up as opposed to top down organization structure where even Doctrine is determined at the individual church level.
It would be great to have that structure and concept presented to contrast with the other organizational methods hopefully to be discussed.

A chance for Dredge to learn another few facts.
Dredge writes:
If we have collected one million fossils so far, this might represent only 0.033% of all fossils, which is hardly a statistically significant sample size.
Let's consider that silly assertion.
The Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History collection includes over 40 million fossils.
The American American Museum of Natural History collection includes almost 5 million fossils.
The Core Research Center of USGS has a collection of over a million fossils.
The University of Florida has a collection of almost a million vertebrate fossils.
The Yale Peabody Museum’s collection is over 4 million individuals.
The list keeps going on.
And almost every other nation also has numerous collections of fossils.
If you want you do not have to remain ignorant as dirt.

We have the fossils, the theory and reality: we win
Dredge writes:
So your answer doesn't help me understand what is "happening all around us" that provides evidence of macroevolution.
No one really cares whether or not you understand but you do provide a handy foil that allows us to address those who might be reading this and other threads.
We have the fossils. We win.
We have reality. We win.
We have the Theory that explains the fact of evolution. We win.
It really is that simple.
We have and you do not have.

Yet another learning moment brought to you by the class clown.
Dredge writes:
What I'm saying is, regardless of any religious beliefs, the theory that all ilfe on earth evolved from microbes is useless to science. So since that's what the argument is about, winning it is an irrelevance to the real world.
No Dredge, that is not what the argument is about.
The argument is about whether reality and facts trump religious dogma.
I understand that it is often necessary to repeat facts before you seem to be able to understand them and so we will go over it yet again.
There is no theory that all life on earth evolved from microbes.
There has never been such a theory in the field known as Science.
There is the conclusion based on all the evidence ever found that the earliest forms of life on the Earth were microbial.
It is the real world that actually is relevant and not Biblical stories.
Understanding reality is what Science is all about.
Understanding that reality shows that on the Earth the earliest living things were microbes is a win.

It explains it all quite nicely. In a way a few billion years of selective burial can't possibly. But of course, as usual, you are welcome to your opinion. Not your personal attacks on me, however, though nobody is bothering about those things lately.
Faith, that is a lie and you know it is a lie.
You have NEVER been able to explain how any flood, even one of the Biblical Floods, could sort either the geology or the critters in the order found in reality.
The Biblical Floods are simply myths.

The facts as I have given them speak for themselves.
The concept of fossil order is just a weird artifact of the ToE.
Faith, that is a lie and you know it is a lie.
You have never presented a model, method, mechanism, process or procedure that will sort either the geology or the critters in the order found in reality.
