What will you do in 2018
1. to make the world a better place
2. to make you a better person
3. to help someone else
1. It's difficult to make the world a "better place" in that where there are conflicting worldviews the answer depends on what the person considers "better" and so it is subjective to a point. For example it would be "better" for some if abortion was abolished apart from the mitigating cases, and worse for others. If you just mean "better for everyone", I must say I don't feel too compelled to quote Michael Knight; "One man can make a difference."
Yes, a difference, but a miniscule one it seems, because as much as I have invested in charities by tithing over the years, the truth is the same commercials will still play. We are told it will continue. That depresses me, my answer is to give more but that still won't change anything.
Now you may think I am arguing that it is futile. No, I will continue to do my small part but my real point is that others won't play theirs and until they do, we can't really make the world a, "better" place. Unity is the true answer and I believe it would only happen if everyone had the love of God rather than the small percentage that do.
2. What I've been doing since I was born again in about 1998. Making ourselves better, (transformed into His image) isn't a new year thing, but an every day fight against the flesh. That can be the smallest thing, like being tempted into losing my temper and shouting as someone that does or says something extremely unjust. Just biting your tongue can seem like a small victory but in the long run it can change your mind quite literally, in that those patterns of thought in the brain are influenced, and the next time it occurs that wick, that hot headedness, might just have lost it's edge and I don't get quite as angry. But it's not easy. Then there are the small temptations, eating too much, debating too much, outwitting evolutionists too much.
3. I don't know. I help people if I can but again what Michael Knight says seems unrealistic given how small a difference one person can make. I can only quote Spock on this one when he is asked how the new cadettes will perform. "as with all living things, each according to his gifts."
My gift is artwork. Sometimes I use that gift to raise money for charity. With God, He only expects you to give from what you have been given, like with the parable of those three servants and each is given a certain amount. My hope this year is to increase my own personal finances so I can afford more materials so that I can pursue my artistic goals and blessing others will be a part of that I would think, but sometimes because I am creative, it can be a new idea or a new thing that can spark off some new way of being a blessing to others. First I must bless myself, Lol, by not being skint anymore, and blowing what little I do have on material temptations. :
Love the minis by the way, and I always did love minis but only ever had a 1/43 scale one, Lol. Seems we both share the love of logic and minis. I hope you have a healthy year RAZD, and will pray tonight that it's one of your best yet! Bless you Sir. (and those three questions say something about you, and are meritorious!)
