George Carlin and Carl Sagan...two atheists with similar views. As a believer, I disagree yet respect their ideas. .....Atheists walk humbly with each other....as humans...yet don't consider God....much as one would not consider a spaghetti monster ambling with them towards the sunset. My only critique of such a philosophy is that it raises humans to a responsible level of being fully responsible for our own survival...which scares me a bit.Edited by Phat, : added pointEdited by Phat, : No reason given.

You love that analogy, dont you? Consider that Noah had no idea that it was going to rain, had no particular love of animals that we can see, and was ridiculed for his efforts. He didn't have to do anything! He was simply obeying voices in his head.

If should is a factor to even be considered, of course I should be different.I should be entitled to a good safe retirement. I should be safe from any killer germs or viruses. There should be world peace.Although I suppose you could argue that all of us should have equal rights.In which case, I should be able to have a much free stuff as the darn shoplifters, whom I see every day and whom all should be in jail.

It seems you invest a lot of energy into denigrating the idea of religion. Why not just be like Stile and let it go? This whole militant thing seems a waste of energy. Religion for better or worse will be around long after you are gone.

Alex is just pointing out how arrogant people are being so small and claiming to have no need for a Creator. God is like oxygen...you wont even miss Him until you need Him.There are no atheists in locked school classrooms during crazy shootings.

Because they chose at some point in their lives to be believers. They dont expect evidence to explain everything. Yes. Critics may point at the bodies and suggest that evidence proves otherwise, but it is insufficient to prove anything apart from physical death. Only if they place too much "faith" in science and evidence. Believers dont simply switch boats in the middle of the stream when the rapids approach. Again, this is why many never fully become believers. They never bought the product to begin with.Add: My claim is that in a situation where one might lose their life, many at that moment will buy the product. Right. Unbelievers chose based on the evidence. In the locked room, the evidence changes. Death becomes more of a reality. A dying man will grasp at straws.On the other hand, your argument also has support.
