ICANT, apparently you cannot follow a thread. Let me replay your question and my answer.
ICAT writes: Well I always thought that infinite was a synonym of eternal. Is that wrong also? NoNukes writes: In general, yes. In this case in particular, "infinite in expanse" would refer to size rather than duration. Yes, it is also wrong that infinite and eternal are synonyms. Hi NoNukes,
NoNukes writes: Yes, it is also wrong that infinite and eternal are synonyms. And in case that was unclear, I gave also gave you some detail about what was wrong with your supposition. If infinite is not a synonym of eternal why is it listed as a synonym of eternal in the references I gave you? In one reference it is listed as a the definition of eternal. God Bless,"John 5:39 (KJS) Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me."

Hi jar,
jar writes: Because Dictionaries do not record what is correct, only how words are used. Ignorance is often rampant. Eternal is a synonym of everlasting, and unending. Infinite is a synonym of eternal, everlasting, and endless. So since you are your own god you make your own rules and you decide what is right and wrong. Thus your proclamation that eternal and infinite is not a synonym. God Bless,"John 5:39 (KJS) Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me."

Once again ICANT you are simply showing your ignorance and dishonesty.
ICANT writes: So since you are your own god you make your own rules and you decide what is right and wrong. Yet the reality is that I am and have always been a Christian raised in a Christian household, educated in Christian schools and a registered member of a recognized Christian sect. And the fact remains that Because dictionaries do not record what is correct, only how words are used. Ignorance is often rampant. Something that is infinite in extent does not have to be eternal and it is just as dishonesty to try to misrepresent what others say just as you seem to do with what the the Bible says constantly.

If infinite is not a synonym of eternal why is it listed as a synonym of eternal in the references I gave you? Sigh. Very few words have identical meanings. Infinite and eternal do not. Here are examples of sentences using the two words, in which the two words cannot be interchanged while retaining the meaning of the sentences. 1. The count of numbers smaller than 1 but greater than 0 is infinite.2. The universe is neither infinite nor eternal. 3. As measured on an absolute hardness scale, the hardness of diamond is 1500, but the difficulty of an idea penetrating the head of ICANT is near infinity. 4. That means we might have to wait an eternity for him to learn anything. Yet he asks that I correct the erroneous statements that he makes. 5. Can a person be born today, live you an infinite time afterward, and yet be considered eternal? 6. After all, that person's existence does not extend infinitely into the past. 7. Can you distinguish between a universe that is infinitely large and one that is eternal? Or are those words identical in meaning. You are equivocating. Your question about whether the two words were synonyms was actually an attempt to tell me that infinite could not be used to describe space rather than time. Instead of acknowledging that to be correct, and I will quote the dictionary below, you claim that the two are synonyms. Despite the fact that the context shows they are not identical in meaning.
quote: How are such equivocations different from lying? Particularly when they are deliberate. You are dismissed. Not responding to you further on this topic. You're not saying anything. The fact is that the Bible doesn't say anything about expansion. ringo writes:
That in the beginning was about the size pea. But the process is completely different. The earth got larger because new matter was added to it. The expansion of the universe involves a fixed amount of matter/energy.An honest discussion is more of a peer review than a pep rally. Hi ringo,
ringo writes: You're not saying anything. The fact is that the Bible doesn't say anything about expansion. But the Bible does say it was stretched out it doesn't say how. I thought science taught that the fabric of the universe got stretched out. Yawn. Yet more utter dishonesty from you. I did not say I was religious, I said I was a Christian, a cradle creedal Christian and a registered member of a recognized Christian denomination, which of course is far more of a Christian than Jesus was. And is still simply another example of you trying to palm the pea, misdirect attention and con the rubes. Sorry Charlie but I imagine Jesus places a higher premium on honesty than in your misrepresentations and equivocations. When you continue to misrepresent what others say, continue to take things out of context, continue to play kindergarten word games you simply make Christianity look stupid.

Hi NoNukes,
NoNukes writes: infiniteadjective limitless or endless in space, extent, or size; impossible to measure or calculate. noun a space or quantity that is infinite. From your quote. Limitless, endless, impossible to measure describes eternal to me. So if it is ok with you I will still say eternal or eternity is infinite. And if it is not ok with you who cares? God Bless,"John 5:39 (KJS) Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me."

i would say they are not synonyms when used in the context of a spacial dimensions which is something that ICant can't grasp Any honest person would say that. ICant grasps whatever he wants to grasp. This is of a piece with that "Moses isn't a noun" crap he was spewing earlier. Under a government which imprisons any unjustly, the true place for a just man is also in prison. And if it is not ok with you who cares? Apparently, you care, ICANT. For some reason, you are always asking me if you have the science or math right whenever you post some clearly wrong stuff that remotely resembles science. Perhaps you should not ask if you don't really want an answer. Under a government which imprisons any unjustly, the true place for a just man is also in prison. This is of a piece with that "Moses isn't a noun" crap he was spewing earlier. and the "what is the smallest positive non zero number" bullshit. He does not debate honestly.
