I understand that the picture of the month is a very low priority. EvC has had the same picture for years. But apparently, the free picture hosting site, Photobucket, has started charging. Meanwhile, they are serving up quite ugly ads for their services in lieu of showing the pictures.

Why not put the picture somewhere else, or host it natively? Why not have an image upload facility so that images are always kept with posts. I am losing a lot of image links in old posts, first with ImageShack deleting my account and now with Photobucket heavy handedness. Currently I'm putting pictures on my RAZD facebook account ... Update Your Browser | Facebook Also where I am talking with Palaeos folks. ... so a first place to put the EvC forum pictures would be the EvC facebook account ... if you don't go the upload route. Hosting the photos locally is something I've wanted to do for a long time. I'll fix the homepage photo when I get a chance.

Hey Admin
Some shady character snuck into the coffee house and is trying to pedal his wares. Message 1. How can we possibly tolerate such flagrant self promotion?!? I suggest that you break out the ban hammer and smote his ruin upon the anvil of your rigorous ethical code. Edited by ProtoTypical, : humour app is broken

It would make reading these threads a lot more pleasant if there were no accusations of "lying" and "dishonesty," etc. Its getting out of hand lately.

Nice job on the picture. Brand new one too!

Creation has just about expired his usefulness here.

So I read the rules, and I see:
quote: quote: And then you look at a thread like Evolution. We Have The Fossils. We Win.; and what we see is stuff like this:
It has been proven time after time after time and only your utter dishonesty and willful ignorance prevents your acknowledgement of the facts. But you have said over and over that the bible supersedes any evidence that contradicts it. All of your claims are based on that one idea. That belief prevents you from accepting any evidence that we present that goes against your a priori beliefs. So you don't have to appeal to the bible in this thread as you have told us again and again where you are coming from. That makes it pretty much a waste of time for us to present evidence to you, doesn't it? Now, I can't help but feel that "We've already told you, you just refuse to listen" is flatly at odds with the idea of how debate is supposed to happen on this site; and yet that amounts for almost everything that's written. Creationists, due to the fact that there are so few of them and their basic points are inherently flawed, deserve a bit of tolerance on the moderation front, otherwise a site like this cannot exist. Evolutionists have the advantage of numbers and reality, and so should be held to stricter standards (by which I simply mean the standards in the rules). A post which introduces no new evidence and no new arguments; and accuses someone of lying, often in almost identical words as used many times before, is in clear and flagrant violation of the site's rules. There are very few rules, if these are not enforced, why are there any? It strikes me that Faith has a fundamental misunderstanding of geology which I've been trying to get my head around. But no one seems interested in understanding what she misunderstands. It's just
Once again you are simply lying Faith and showing your utter ignorance. over and over again. My two cents. ABE: 'no one seems interested' is unfair. 'Most do not seem interested' would have been better. Edited by caffeine, : No reason given. Edited by caffeine, : No reason given. Edited by caffeine, : No reason given.

Of course the fact that Faith has a habit of conveniently forgetting evidence that contradicts her opinions, repeating refuted arguments, stating ridiculous falsehoods and accusing us of being biased just because we defeated her arguments.
Honest discussion with Faith is all but impossible. She will even decide she meant something other than she said to avoid admitting she was wrong. It gets pretty clear that she doesn’t Have anything in mind for what she really meant, just that it isn’t what was answered. Can you blame people for not repeating the same refutations for the n-th time ?

Maybe just point out every tenth lie. It may be better not to toss around the term "lie" so freely. Creationists actually believe what they are saying, and certainly don't feel they're lying. It is true that the evidence shows their claims are wrong and that many refuse to accept that evidence and keep making the same unevidenced and contradicted claims no matter what. But that's more of self-delusion or confirmation bias or just plain stubbornness than lying. So lets stop with the accusations of lying.Religious belief does not constitute scientific evidence, nor does it convey scientific knowledge. Belief gets in the way of learning--Robert A. Heinlein In the name of diversity, college student demands to be kept in ignorance of the culture that made diversity a value--StultisTheFool It's not what we don't know that hurts, it's what we know that ain't so--Will Rogers If I am entitled to something, someone else is obliged to pay--Jerry Pournelle If a religion's teachings are true, then it should have nothing to fear from science...--dwise1 "Multiculturalism" demands that the US be tolerant of everything except its own past, culture, traditions, and identity. I'm a participant in the Evolution. We Have The Fossils. We Win. thread and so cannot moderate. I could recuse myself for a couple days and then take over as moderator (in fact, it's already been a couple days since I last posted to that thread), but I don't know that other participants would like that because I would just bring the discussion about the flood to a halt and redirect discussion to a more appropriate thread. So I'll just make a couple comments here.
I agree that the accusations of lying should cease. I agree that content free posts should cease. I agree that participants shouldn't introduce their own favorite arguments as if for the first time when those arguments have already been raised and discussed at length in other threads. Unless there is some new angle, there should be no convenient forgetting or mischaracterization of previous history, especially of discussions that a participant has abandoned in midstream.
