And the picture shows a car without the additional pods seen on the uber self driving cars so it is very likely that it was just a normal car.

The real question to me is whether even imperfect computers are better drivers than the average human.The automated system does not have to be perfect or even near perfect, it just has to be better than humans. The bar favoring automated driving systems over humans is really, really low.

Better yet, have a separate and walled off lane for the non-driverless cars.
