The only way to act on being black or female is to demand equal rights. Why is a homosexual demanding equal rights different? Acting on them is sin, and so is homosexual behavior. It is not like being born black or white or male or female. And our geese will blot out the sun.

Sins are nobodies business but the sinner.
The Christian Cult of Ignorance and Dishonesty needs to be laughed outta Dodge. It's time to assign the pitiful God they market to the trash bin.

so religious feelings, which aren't traits, shouldn't be protected.

I wasn't talking about mortifying sexual sins in particular, but all sins.
Sexuality itself isn't a sin but there are certainly a lot of sexual sins that need to be mortified and homosexual behavior is one of them. Edited by Faith, : No reason given.

Feelings have nothing to do with anything legal that I know of.

Yeah I used to believe there were no consequences to sin too, that it was all superstitious garbage, so I pushed the envelope pretty far and God smacked me down pretty hard for it, and I'm still reeling from the smackdown. I'm grateful for it though because it sure put an end to that modern conceit you are still laboring under. Edited by Faith, : No reason given.

It's funny how you were wrong and then you changed your mind and you were still wrong. Yeah I used to believe there were no consequences to sin too.... We all know that there are consequences for our actions, whether our actions are "sin" or something else. When we get smacked down by the consequences, it isn't "God", it's reality. And our geese will blot out the sun.

Calling the idea of sin "superstitious garbage" is what I was responding to. That implies there is no such thing as sin. I found out there is. And the consequences are pretty clearly supernatural. Tangle may not have the courage to push the envelope as far as I did, which would suggest to me that he knows it's not superstitious garbage.

He would call anything involving God superstition. Your attempts to read what he wrote do not make much sense. Sins are things we do against God. That concept is different from things that are wrong because they are crimes, hurtful, stingy, evil, etc although there is a great deal of overlap. Under a government which imprisons any unjustly, the true place for a just man is also in prison. Thoreau: Civil Disobedience (1846) "Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, the wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door! We got a thousand points of light for the homeless man. We've got a kinder, gentler, machine gun hand. Neil Young, Rockin' in the Free World. Worrying about the "browning of America" is not racism. -- Faith I hate you all, you hate me -- Faith No it is based on math I studied in sixth grade, just plain old addition, substraction and multiplication. -- ICANT

I'm not talking about crimes, I'm talking about private sins, and I was an atheist at the time too.

I don't know if Tangle would agree with me but I would say that "sin" is real - only it's internal. It's our conscience telling us we shouldn't do something and making us feel guilty after we did it. But the part where some alien overlord decides what is "sin" is superstitious garbage. It's ourselves and our society that decides what is "sin".

Well, no. That isn't clear at all. And the consequences are pretty clearly supernatural. And our geese will blot out the sun.

You aren't in a position to see that they are supernatural beause I haven't said enough about it and don't intend to; I'm telling you they are supernatural, they are not normal social consequences.

I didn't say anything about social consequences. I mentioned reality - i.e. observable, physical consequences. Sexually-transmitted disease would be an example - real consequences as opposed to imagined "supernatural" ones.
