He's not a stuffy Lyndon Johnson or Richard Nixon, he has a personality that many Christians happen to like. "Journalists" are demonstrating a hatred that is simply not good for the well being of the U.S. That appears to be correct. But the rest of us Christians cannot see what there is about his personality to like. Could you expand on this a bit? The consensus among many of Trump's supporters seems to be that they like his policies but that his outburst, Tweets, and rants are detractions that they excuse. Yet you and "many Christians" see something in his personality that they like. What might that be? Edited by NoNukes, : No reason given. Infantile, especially when compared to the unprecedented hatred spewed by Trump (birther bullshit) about Obama during the entire 8 years of his term as president. Not part of the hatred, per se. But there is this gem posted by Trump after Obama's re-election in 2012. Trump thought that Obama had lost the popular vote (which he hadn't) but that he had been granted victory by the electoral college.

This isn't a position the Democratic party supports. Why is he lying about this? If this is an example of how Trump supporters think then it tells us they're just like him: they lie. You are right. Having illegal's vote is not something Democrats espouse, but the idea that Democrats are looking for votes from illegals or from former illegals is a part of conspiracy theory pushed frequently by Republicans including at least one poster to these forums. I would not call it a lie; but it is ridiculous, paranoid, and inane. Fear of a brown planet. Edited by NoNukes, : No reason given. I get my information from lots of sources. My views are actually pretty mainstream, the reason there is so much shock about them here is probably because most here, like Percy, live in the tiny NY Times, Washington Post bubble. Your views are mainstream among your own clan. I don't know what your sources are because you don't give them, but I do know that you do tend to be very inventive when it comes to starting what the facts are. I have also noted you doubting stuff that anybody can check using any number of sources. If you want to describe your sources, perhaps that will add to your credibility. Feel free. Separation of church and state gives the religious the right to worship as they please. It doesn't give them the right to force their religious beliefs onto others. Actually it kinda does, because our system allows them to elect their favored politicians who get to pick those who interpret the constitution and to determine exactly what "separation of church and state" really means. Separation of church and state are not the actual words in the constitution, although they do express the intended meaning of the author of the first amendment.
mark9k writes: This has got to be the first time in history when the news media goes nuts when a U.S. president has friendly, largely meaningless meetings with foreign leaders. Is this really how wingers think? If so then there is no common ground with them on Trump. Not even love of country, which should be one of our shared values, can help here. ABE:

How soon people forget Ping Pong Diplomacy and the frenzy of a US President going to China and encouraging direct relationships between the US and China I haven't forgotten those. But are the serious complaints about the fact that Trump met with Russia or North Korea? Or are the complaints about the content of those meetings and Trump's behavior before and after the meetings. Yes. By all means. Meet with Russia. Play some foosball. But don't then announce that you are considering sending US diplomats to Russia for interrogation. Out of time tonight. And I'm not seeing much more to inspire me to further clarify why Christians support Trump. It's a fact that they do however, I heard tonight on Fox that his ratings are at an all time high. Thanks for sharing as much as you did. I have to admit that I am a bit disappointed. It is probably because I was hoping for more "cerebral" explanations that were different from the stereotypical wingnut stuff I imagine, and instead I am getting confirmation from you directly, and from Faith who seems to applaud every conspiracy theory you invoke. Trump's ratings are at an all-time high, for Trump, with 88% of Republicans backing him. I find it difficult to believe that most of them would cite the reasons you give here, but I don't see much intelligent discourse about that and I don't know where I would find any. But they've stopped now haven't they? Many Americans haven't noticed, because it's not on the news. Standard marc9000 tactic. He did not hear it, so it must not have happened. Remember how Trump promised to kill "Obamacare"? Well, it turns out that it's a lot harder than it seemed. Killed by replacing it with cheaper, better coverage? Yes, I do remember.

When you post your Democrat talking points, do you check at Fox news, or the Washington Times, to see if they're true? (I already know the answer ) You are conflating the issue. I am not talking about the problem with you quoting a source. I am referring to you saying that you claiming that some fact based on not hearing or checking anything at all. Making such claims should require doing at least some checking. But you don't check. In those multiple instances, one of which I mentioned in the last couple of days, you rely on your memory of nothing. And in fact you have admitted that you expect others to look the stuff up to see if you are right. If you instead cited Fox News or some other source as saying that something did not happen and I complained about that, then we would have the issue you are bring up here. Your tactic is simply dishonest. And I note you doing it in almost every thread you participate in. If I experience something first hand, I'm not afraid to claim it as fact. Again, I am referring to your claims about things you did not experience. Such claims are worthless if you don't do some checking to back up your apparently flagging memory. And yes, the correct response to those things is to ask for your sources. That is how honest debate and discussion proceeds. Small wonder you don't want to back stuff up. Edited by NoNukes, : No reason given. Your claim is that lefties are working hard to get illegals to vote. Let's see if you did anything to address that claim.
1. You gave a quote citing that there were few safeguards in place to keep illegals from voting in San Francisco. Are there any particular safeguards in place in North Carolina, for example? Is this really on point anyway? You quote something saying that someone could vote illegally because it is not required that you show a social security card or state id to register. Let's see if the state does check for illegal immigrants. But before I do this, again, at best you are providing evidence of slackness. First of all, all you are citing is the requirement for the assigned number and not the documents that are required to prove residency and citizenship. Your application is reviewed by the County Elections Office. Secondly, if you are a new voter and you register without showing a driver's license or social security number, then you will be required to provide identification at the time of voting. So both your poorly researched claims and purported evidence are easily seen to be incorrect. Here are the actual requirements to vote:

During Tuesday night's rally Trump said, "You know, if you go out and you want to buy groceries, you need a picture on a card you need ID. Trump is not the first president to reveal that he does not buy his own groceries. I do recall that my parents used to write checks for everything including groceries. You were very likely to be asked for ID during those days.
When asked to explain the president's comments Sarah Huckster Sanders implied he was talking about beer and wine. Nice improv by Sarah. But if you appear to be over 30 something, nobody is going to ask for ID.
I'm trying to remember the places where I am asked for photo ID. Doctor's offices is the only one I can think of. They seem really concerned about making sure you're really who you say you are Just about anything you do at the DMV including registering to vote. Visit a prisoner, board an airplane.
