My point is that high tech and industrial uses in China are growing very rapidly and will use vast quantities of gold and other precious metals.

Re: Speaking of Treasury Bonds...and Gold
Same with India. My point is that 23% is used as an investment, more than is currently used for industry. If the dollar tanked, these countries would be positioned to profit from our demise.

LOL
And far more is used as jewelry which is far more portable than bullion.
If the US dollar tanks then everyone else in the world would be positioned to profit from our demise.

Many people believe that it is eventually inevitable...and this has me concerned. China taking over is no problem unless it ends up costing US citizens more...but in a way, maybe we should let China pay to be the global cop so that WE get off the hook and can rebuild our own infrastructure

Nice if Mr. Bi-Lateral Trade actually had any trade deals in mind.
He has said something about having a trade deal with post-Brexit U.K. , but I would rate that as anti-trade nationalistic propaganda, since it is little more than a thinly veiled attack on the European Union.
The European Union trade deals have served the U.K. well.
Look at the European Union trade deal with South Korea.
(I will jump from the first 2 paragraphs down to the results I want people to see, keep in mind a lot is skipped and it all needs to be read)
quote:
European Union—South Korea Free Trade Agreement
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The European Union—South Korea Free Trade Agreement is a free trade agreement between the European Union (EU) and South Korea. The agreement was signed on 15 October 2009.[1] The agreement was provisionally applied from 1 July 2011,[2] and entered into force from 13 December 2015, after having been ratified by all signatories.[3]
The agreement was the most comprehensive the EU had ever negotiated up until that point: import duties are near eliminated on all produce and there is deep liberalisation in trade in services. It includes provisions for intellectual property (including geographical indications), public procurement, competition, transparency of regulation and sustainable development. There are also specific commitments against non-tariff obstacles on sectors such as automobiles, pharmaceuticals and electronics.[4]
....
Effects[edit]
In 2016, five years after the European Union—South Korea Free Trade Agreement has been provisionally put in place, the European Commission announced that EU exports to South Korea increased by 55%; European companies saved 2.8 billion in scrapped or discounted customs duties; and bilateral trade in goods between the EU and South Korea grew annually, reaching a record level of over 90 billion in 2015.[22]
In the United Kingdom, Lord Price CVO, Minister of State for Trade Policy, Department for International Trade (DIT), said that the EU-Korea FTA had boosted UK exports to Korea by 111% from 2010/11 to 2014/15 [23]
European Union—South Korea Free Trade Agreement - Wikipedia
Trump has went after harming our own historical 2012 trade deal with South Korea (washing machines are much more expensive thanks to Trump), one of only 2 trade deals Obama was able to reach in his 8 years (the other being with Colombia).
United States free-trade agreements - Wikipedia
Trump hasn't achieved crap yet (I bet he will not have a single trade deal in his first (only?) 4 years)
Remember Brian Mulroney got decimated in 1993 over NAFTA (his party suffered 5 years earlier by loosing a massive percentage of the vote, but managed to hold the most seats in the Canadian parliament due to 2 anti-trade parties splitting the vote.)
Brian Mulroney - Wikipedia
Trump isn't standing up to any powerful forces, but Brian Mulroney helped to inaugurate a new era by his historic stand.
I would rate Mulroney as one of the heroes of the 21st century.
(and Nebraska has $8 billion in exports, $5 billion in imports, which is massive in an economy of around $100 billion. A trade surplus of close to 3% of the economy and Trump is sinking it fast. China is looking to a new supply chain from Brazil to make up for Trump's disruptions.)

you really need to keep these long rambling posts within the proper topics rather than derailing all of them

This line was part of the OP
quote:
China opens Free Trade negotiations with Europe, Canada, Mexico?
I saw my post as relevant.
Trump's trade policy (and comments) have attacks on not just South Korea but Canada, Europe, China, Mexico, etc.
And he is very anti European Union (the U.K. wants a "soft Brexit" so it can stay part of the European Union wide trade deal network, but block visa free migration policies of the EU member state constitution).
