... and the current population of Mexico all took an active part in the killing. Between the Inquisition and now, we white Americans didnít treat anyone poorly.

Remind me why the Southern Baptist split from the Northern Baptists?

Re: Immigration part of conspiracy to destroy Christian civlization
Catholics are still murdering Protestants in Latin America. I think I even posted something on that. But the point of increasing our Catholic population is to give the papacy power and you can easily discover that Catholic churches are a big support for illegal immigration, sanctuary cities and all that violation of our laws. And the Pope himself of course has no interest in protecting American sovereignty, he's said it's unkind of us to object to illegal immigration..

About 40% of Hispanics are Protestant in the USA.
Honestly, they are not big Catholics after the multiple generation issue is concerned.

Vatican 2 means what in this discussion?
There were major doctrinal changes when it came to who is and isn't going to hell.

Jews, Protestants, Eastern Orthodox weren't hell bound, right? (post Vatican II)

I heard that it was because the old school Catholicism was really unpopular, and THE Roman Catholic Church was in danger of a collapse in membership numbers.

How can you trust a "church" that changes its doctrine to suit popular opinion? Especially one that says its papal decretals are "infallible?" The qualifications for Hell, as it were, are pretty clearly spelled out in God's word, so that people can be warned and saved from it. God determines these things, not the man-made doctrines of this utterly inconsistent "church." Luther condemned them for sending their members to Hell by denying them the true doctrines of salvation. With Vatican II they went from one wrongness to another, one form of depriving their people of salvation to another.

However, Vatican II was also supposed to lull us all into the false idea that they've given up their Inquisitional ambitions. But they haven't. If they had, if they've given us all a reprieve, they'd have denounced and rescinded the Council of Trent's curses against the Protestant doctrines of salvation by grace, and they'd have closed the Office of the Inquisition. I feel for the poor ordinary Catholics who are the pawns in this gambit to recover the domination the papacy lost at the Protestant Reformation.

While it's probably overkill to provide evidentiary support or elaborate your argument every time you present a standard piece of common knowledge, if you want to advance an unusual and controversial position (that there is no such thing as Western Christian civilisation) it might help to use a few more words.

I guess it is because it is a topic I have discussed here at EvC at length and so basic that I am always amazed when it gets challenged.

When Christianity was the State Religion of Rome it might be reasonable to talk about a Western Christian civilization, one imposed on a significant part of the world by force of arms and economy. But once Rome retreated Western Christianity split up unto a whole herd of disparate factions. There was the Holy Roman Empire (hardly holy or Roman or even as extensive an empire as before) but also the various other cultures. Then there was the split from Roman Catholicism into Protestant and Protestant into all the different flavors of Protestantism. The civilization of England was quite different than Spain or the Dutch or the Belgians or France or Italy or Austria or Russia or Greece or Prussia. And so much of what we call Western Civilization was the product of inventions and technology and it was theology that was the defining difference while technology and invention were the unifying factors.

Often we tend to use language in its more imprecise form. "Western Civilization" is a great example. If we look at the actual history and at what divides Western Civilization from Eastern Civilization religion is certainly one major factor but only one, and in reality what was considered "Christianity" varied far more in the West than in almost any religious example outside the West. Even the Shia, Sunni, Sufi split in Islam was more uniform in beliefs than what was found in Christian cults. What was pretty much common in Western Civilization was technology and the reliance on technology.

We can see a reflection of the varieties of Western Civilization in the Early North American intrusions; New England and Pennsylvania and New York and Maryland and Georgia and Virginia and the Carolinas were each quite different from the others and in turn, quite different from the Spanish settlements in Florida or the French settlements north and south. Each of these represented similar splits that existed in the macrocosm called Western Civilization.

Re: About 40% of Hispanics are Protestant in the USA.
Please point to evidence that a current Inquisition is killing people.

Well, there's no public Inquisition going on, too unpopular these days, but I'd suspect versions of it are going on out of sight.

I posted this on an earlier thread:

When Garibaldi conquered Rome in 1848, long after the Inquisition had supposedly stopped, he found dungeons for torture of "heretics" in the Vatican still being used: Reference: "So you think the Roman inquisition ended? "

And I posted this letter at my blog a few years ago:

Brother Humberto Gomez just called me. His Indian preachers from the mountains of Hidalgo have again been imprisoned by the Indian Catholic Church. They are hanging up their bodies in torturous fashion, like the Inquisition, and threaten to switch to hanging by their necks until dead unless they sign a document recanting their nonCatholic Biblical faith.

The government rarely intervenes in cases like this, Brother Humberto said. It's on the news already in Mexico but though they've been imprisoned and tortured no help has arrivdes. Please pray for for help to arrive quickly. Please pray for these men of God to be rescued."

[Then there is a note added by Brother Humberto:]

" Please keep praying. they just pulled out all the brethren to the meeting place, all the Christian evangelicals have been beaten and they had the main pastor, Celestino Cruz Hernandez, hanging by his arms and are threatening to hang him by the neck if he continues to refuse to recant his faith.

All the Catholics have the area surrounded so the rest will not escape and that the authorities will not come near. The ladies and the children are very scared and they are not allowed to leave the village, and the Catholic leaders do not intervene."

Then there was the story of a nun who escaped a life of starvation and abuse in a convent, including imprisonment in a dungeon, who publicly gave her story and then just up and disappeared. A quick google hasn't located it but I'll look it up again later.

I would like to point out that Rome, the birthplace of the Roman Catholic Church, is smack dab in the middle of the West. If Western Culture didn't give birth to Catholicism then it didn't give birth to Protestantism, either.

Doesn't change the fact that the RCC is a prominent christian religion in Western civilization. It is Republicans who are fighting so hard to keep christians from migrating to the US.
