Odds vary greatly according to whether you do something properly or not. If you drive 150 mph down the highway you're more likely to die than a well-trained and well-equipped driver at the Indianapolis 500.

There are some things that no app can do.

Life is exhausting. That's why we sleep a third of it away.In Canada, we don't "nip" or flit but we have a long checklist of things to do before we leave the house: check the weather, decide on what shoes or boots to wear, decide on raincoat, parka, etc., how many sweaters, etc., hats, scarves, gloves, etc., make sure there's somebody watching the kids, make sure the dog doesn't have to go out, in summer put on sunscreen and bug repellant, in winter, make sure the car has been plugged in over night, make sure the driveway is clear of snow, check the on-board survival kit, hope the car starts, figure out what to do if it doesn't....I don't think a couple of weapons would add much proportionately to the ritual. Mind you, you would have to keep ithem somewhere accessible. Also mind you, in 66 years I've only seen one handgun in civilian hands.

I have fired rifles and shotguns. I see no reason to own one.

I doubt if jar is that much more vigilant than I am. I may not be prepared to shoot back but I still want to see it coming.

I know a Browning High Power when I see one. Mind you, I've never seen one in real life.

Turning the other cheek is a pretty good argument against self-defense.

He was definitely talking about physical injury, not insult. He was refering to the Old Testament law:

Definitely about physical injury and/or death. Definitely not about insult.

He said that the swords were for a (contrived) fullfilment of the prophecy - i.e. they were evidence against Him, showing that He was leading an armed rebellion. It was a bit like leaving dead bodies dressed in Polish uniforms outside that German radio station in September, 1939.

It baffles me how you can miss what the Bible plainly says so often. That's why I don't trust you when you cite thousands of theologians and apologists for thousands of years agreeing with you. Either you're getting them wrong or they got it wrong.

Well, it doesn't say that. After being so blatantly, demonstrably wrong in the first place, it might behoove you to throttle back the arrogance a notch or two.Maybe He wasn't refering to broader situations and maybe He was. There is no justification in the text for the position that you and Got Questions are taking.
