Re: And now some questions on past times
creation writes:
No. Probably before the time of Noah, the record of the bible indicates a world that was of a different nature.
So tree rings and other things we see in this nature are no good for dating.
It doesn't matter what the 'nature' was before the flood, it would leave physical evidence behind. If a year lasted longer than 365 days, ice layers, tree rings etc would show it. They don't.
You see, I place the flood at 70,000,000 years ago or so, in science years. In actual real years it was 4500.
I'm afraid I don't see that. You're going to have to explain it.

Re: And now some correlations
Faith writes:
What I then do with the Flood issues is mentally put on one side the arguments that don't support the Flood and put those that do in the column on the other side. I have a lot of arguments that do so I figure a few I can't defend are no big deal, that eventually they can be defended too.
That's confirmation bias, yet again. You did exactly that with your failed ascension - put enormous weight on what you wanted to believe and ignore what you don't.
Some evidence is 'black swan', that is, conclusive; it disproves absolutely an idea. The consilience of multiple dating methods alone is very close to that strength of evidence.
In your other pile, you have unproven and just plain stupid invention.

Re: And now some correlations
Faith writes:
I figure I would have to personally examine the tree rings very closely to arrive at a meaningful theory.
You really, really don't. You can accept the information as it stands because science has been working on it for decades. That's how it works - thousands of experts are trying to find mistakes. But if you really have to you can. But of course you won't.
Listen, I know the Flood happened, I accept the date of 4500 years ago, so just because I can't explain a given phenomenon says nothing about what really happened.
Yes, we know you believe this nonsense but what you believe is irrelevant.
And of course I think I've come up with some blockbuster defenses of the Flood, which once they are recognized make all arguments against it obsolete.
This is the dumbest thing of all. You have absolutely nothing that stands up for a moment to objective scrutiny, literally nothing, but because of your previous statement you can't and won't see it.
But you could easily test it, try to get something published

Re: Bible Inerrancy is Foundational
Faith writes:
It doesn't get into issues of creation science beyond making the general statement that the Bible is correct wherever it touches on such matters.
The utterly weird thing about that is that they and you think that it matters to anybody but yourselves what you accept or deny.
What you accept or deny is irrelevant to what the facts are unless you can rationally demonstrate why you accept or deny them. 'Because I believe' is not a rational answer.

There's a mountain of confirmed, fact-based evidence supporting the age of things. If you have evidence to support your personal assertion that time was somehow different a few thousand years ago, present it.

Re: Correlation validation by Egyptian Chronology
Faith writes:
The evidence for the Flood is scientific fact
There IS evidence for *a* flood.
quote:
Marine archaeologists have found the first evidence of a people who perished in a great flood of the Black Sea that has been linked with the story of Noah's ark.
Using robot underwater vehicles more than 300ft below the sea's surface, they have begun to map a rolling landscape, fed by meandering streams and marked with wattle and daub houses, that was flooded more than 7,000 years ago.
The discovery was announced yesterday by Robert Ballard, the scientist who discovered the wrecked Titanic.
The Black Sea was once a freshwater lake, well below sea level. About 7,000 years ago, according to geological evidence, the rising Mediterranean sea pushed a channel through what is now the Bosphorus, and then seawater poured in at about 200 times the volume of Niagara Falls. The Black Sea would have widened at the rate of a mile a day, submerging the original shoreline under hundreds of feet of salty water.

Re: An actual catastrophic flood ...
RAZD writes:
But none of these floods were world wide events.
Sure, that's why I said *a* flood and not *The* Flood(TM)
It's pretty obvious that a real huge cataclysmic flood at that time would have been passed down in legends for generations.
So the evidence for a global flood doesn't exist (and if it did, it would be obvious everywhere we looked) whilst the evidence that it didn't is beyond reasonable doubt and we have a credible reason why the myth exists. Game over.

Re: Your problem: no correlations should exist
dad writes:
I would side with the belief that all the universe and the world is only several thousand years old.
Why do you think that the earth and the universe it sits in then looks like it's many billions of years old? There are multiple different ways that we can show you that it's a lot older than 7,000 years; they are all different, relying on different mechanisms but all agree.
There is no reasonable argument that can be used to dismiss all those observations. So if you are right and all those different sciences are wrong, the only explanation is that your god has made it appear very old even though it's very young. Why would he do that?

Re: Your problem: no correlations should exist
dad writes:
Why? Easy. I think that the so called sates are bogus. The reasons for the dates and the basis for them is totally belief based.
I'm not asking you to accept the evidence, we know you dismiss it without reading or understanding it. I'm asking you a different question.
The world's scientists in multiple disciples for 200 years have amassed an enormous quantity of evidence that has proven beyond doubt that the earth is old. That evidence exists. My question is why god would plant all this evidence that convinces all those scientists?

Re: Your problem: no correlations should exist
dad writes:
No one has amassed a shred of evidence for your claims of old ages etc.
Look dad, denying that the evidence means what science says it means is different from denying that evidence exists at all.
We can very easily present the evidence that has lead every branch of science to conclude that the universe is old, if you deny that that evidence exists you are denying easily provable reality.
So, again, why would your god want to trick us like that?

Re: Your problem: no correlations should exist
dad writes:
And I can easily show that what you imagined to be evidences were actually beliefs. What we need here is fact and real knowledge and science, not political reinvent word games.
Ok, I'll try again.
Let's say that hundreds of thousands of scientists for a couple of hundred years are all wrong and what they call evidence is what you call beliefs. All those evolutionary biologists, palaeontologists, radio physicists, astrophysicists, molecular biologists, geologists etc etc, all believe that what are looking at shows that the earth is old.
And all that evidence is there - the fossils, the speed of light, the rocks, the rings, the varves, the ice cores, the radio carbon and so on. You can go and look at it yourself. But fine, let's say it's all belief.
My question is, why has god made it so that all those people are fooled by the evidence that they see?

I am not fooled, so speak for yourself!
You, of course, know the TRUTH. You are very special.
But my question is not about you, sadly we don't all have your towering intellect.
The earth and the universe it sits in appears very old to the rest of us poor saps and we think - wrongly of course - that the evidence we gather proves it.
My question, should you wish not to avoid it again, is why did your god make it look old to us ordinary folk if it isn't?

No, they do not appear to be old at all.
Try to get passed YOU. I realise this is very hard for you, but try. This is about what others are seeing and thinking. They would not be thinking all this if they did not see what they think is good evidence.
The evidence exists, YOU can see it. You think that the interpretation of that evidence is wrong, but nevertheless it exists and has fooled tens of thousands of clever people.
So, one last time, why make the evidence that fools us?
