Re: New Footprints ... in the sand ...
If “both sides have valid arguments” but the YECs have none, what do you mean by “both sides”?

They leave wet slicks. That's how footprints get preserved.

Re: New Footprints ... in the sand ...
Funny, it's rock layers that are labeled as time periods in scads of illustrations of the geo column.

Actually, the diagram shows how several different formations were laid down during each time period on the diagram.

In Phat's analogy, it's like the snow from several storms laid down during one winter. Then, you have another winter ...

By the way, your diagram shows 8 different erosional unconformities in the Grand Canyon sequence.

Re: New Footprints ... in the sand ...
I hope that in future you will stop accusing other people of “misreading” since your “rocks are time periods” misreading is the craziest misreading that I have ever seen and you keep on repeating it even after being corrected again and again.

As for something “leaving slicks” that really doesn’t help you explain how the trackway - or the many other trackways from different periods - fit with the Biblical description of the Flood.

Re: New Footprints ... in the sand ...
Upon further musings, I can only say that the Creationist side has but one argument: That God did it for a mysterious reason. I can't say that this is a valid argument, however.

Come on RAZD; how can either of the imaginary floods detailed in the Bible erase real footprints?

That's not how it happens at the beach. We've all seen what really happens to footprints exposed to wave and tide action - so why would you even suggest such a ridiculous scenario?

Long period of time between waves/tides as Flood rises. This has been argued to death many times before. I haven't changed my mind.

Re: New Footprints ... in the sand ...
It may have been argued a lot but we still haven’t seen any reason to think that it’s plausible from either a scriptural or an evidential point of view.

So how long do you have dry land between these conjectured waves? How many times do they need to inundate the land to account for all the fossil footprints?

Then when you’ve dealt with those you can get on to difficult questions like what could possibly cause them and what evidence is there for them aside from your need to explain terrestrial features in the fossil record.

Be careful how many made-up, unscriptural waves you try to squeeze into a one-year flood. There are a lot of layers to explain.

Of course, that's an experiment that creationists could do: One tank with waves every few seconds, one tank with two tides per day, one tank with a wave every week, etc. It should be easy enough to figure out what conditions would preserve footprints. Why don't creationistsdo that?
