A good half the country has contrary opinions.
Now that Republican policies are become more of a reality, those opinions may change.
When those people voted for Republicans for Congress, did they send them there to increase the cost of their health insurance? Probably not. Did they send them there to take away social programs and give the money from those programs to the richest Americans? Probably not. Did they vote for someone to kick their grandmother off of Medicaid so she can't afford that nursing home anymore? Probably not.
I suspect that many people voted for Republicans in the abstract because of the tribalist nature of modern politics. They may not like it so much when Republicans policies go from the abstract to the concrete.

How many Democratic hearts have been broken based on the hope of Democratic voters turning out for midterm elections? Lots.
Perhaps this year will be different, but I won't believe it until I see it.

The other issue is even if the Democrats opted to focus on the actual alleged lies from Kavanaugh during testimony, they would be called out as hypocrites since that is precisely the tactic that the Republicans used during the Clinton impeachment saga. Clinton was in fact impeached for perjury and obstruction of justice relating to his responses during questioning regarding the affair with Lewinski. As opposed to the actual deed itself.
And if we all recall, the Democrats basically scoffed at the notion since their assertion was it was a private matter that should not have been discussed in public. Ironically, they were somewhat 'anti-#MeToo' at that time.
Last I checked, what happened between Clinton and Lewinski was consensual. That's a bit different than sexual assault.

It's always been the Democrats who have been the racists and done all the shenanigans to disenfranchise blacks. Yep, no moral integrity on that side of the fence.
Can you give an example from the last 30 years?

Oh right. Ha ha.
Check out Rick Scott, Florida governor just elected, on his suit against Broward and Palm Beach Counties for election fraud.
Republicans are also claiming fraud in Arizona. And of course the Leftists are rationalizing it away.
Funny it's always the Left doing the fraud. No moral integrity.
Accusations are not convictions. If Scott is not able to produce evidence to back his accusations, will you retract your own claims?

Re: Look at how much worse Trump did than Romney in Texas (House races even closer)
Faith writes:
YOu seem to be ignoring the main overall fact about Midterm elections which is that they always reverse the wins of the incumbent administration, and in this case Trump fared a lot better than previous Presdients, Clinton losing 52 house seats and seven Senate seats, Obama losing 63 House seats and some number of Senate seats, and something similar was true for the Bushes, while Trump lost only 30 something House seats and actually gained a couple or three Senate seats.
There is one number that stands out
"The gains that propelled Democrats to retake the majority in the House come on the back of the largest margin of victory, in terms of total votes, that either party has seen in a midterm election. Democrats held the prior record for vote margin, which came in 1974 with the backdrop of the Watergate scandal."

The House elections are as close as you get to a national vote in a midterm, and it was the largest win by either party in modern history. What Democrats face is gerrymandering which is why they didn't have the largest seat win.

Interesting way to cancel out the true statistic about the number of seats. For what purpose I can't imagine but the Left is weird.
All you need to do is look at the last presidential election. Hilary Clinton won by 3 million votes but Trump won the electoral college. Democrats already face a demographic hurdle when it comes to states. Within some states controlled by Republicans there has been gerrymandering so that Republicans get more seats than they would in a fair election. This is why the number of seats is not as indicative as the overall vote.
